💷 We've been out fundraising again! 💷 Our chair Michael Copestake joined Lucy Stephens of Penguin PR to rattle our tins at Mickleover Football Club's family fun day ahead of the game on Saturday. Thanks so much to Don Amott for allowing us to raise money on the day, to all the generous folk out there who so kindly put their change into our buckets or tapped their phones on our Just Giving link. We'll share the final total with you all when we've finished totting up!
Derbyshire Children’s Holiday Centre
Individual and Family Services
We provide disadvantaged children from Derbyshire aged between 7 and 13 with a break they might never normally receive.
About us
The Derbyshire Children's Holiday Centre offers five-day stays at its purpose-built centre in Skegness for children who - due to financial disadvantage or other reasons - may not otherwise get a break. A holiday is something that many of us take for granted, but for the children who come to our centre it is a rarity, even a one-off. Many of them have never been away, and may have no prospect of doing so. Just a week away at the Centre can make a huge difference. It gives the youngsters time and space to relax, make new friends and enjoy themselves in a supportive and structured environment, and in the care of our fully trained staff. Recognised by the Local Education Authority as providing a Secondary Educational Experience as part of the overall education of the children who attend, it contributes to their personal and social development, giving them confidence and self-esteem, as well as providing memories that last a lifetime. For a week, they can just enjoy being on holiday. For their parents, guardians or carers too, it offers some important respite time, safe in the knowledge that the children are being well looked after. DCHC, established in 1891, provides 450+ holiday places per season, which runs between April and October.

Looking for some family fun in the sun this weekend? We recommend the family fun day being held at Mickleover Football Club in the Don Amott Arena tomorrow which looks to be the ideal way to soak up some rays with the family in tow. If you head down there, look out for our volunteers Janine S., Michael Copestake and Lucy Stephens who will be out with a smile rattling our bright yellow Derbyshire Children’s Holiday Centre tins. See you there? Thank you for hosting us Don Amott, we hope to get lots of support. #charity #fundraising

Thank you to the fans who so generously donated and to our volunteers who gave of their time on a Saturday afternoon
⚽️ Drum roll please … ! ⚽️ We are very happy to report that our volunteers collected a grand total of £1030 from Derby County Football Club and Blackburn Rovers Football Club fans ahead of Saturday’s game. Thank you so much to everyone who came out to volunteer for us and all the fans - home and away - who gave so generously. It was particularly heart-warming for our volunteers to chat to some fans who had themselves been guests of our centre decades ago. Then, as now, our aim is simple: we provide breaks for Derbyshire children who may otherwise not get one. THANK YOU to everyone who volunteered for us, donated, and chatted to us on Saturday. Your support means so much. Alan Grimadell, Simon Evans MBA, Peter E. Janine S.

Huge thanks to Chris Birds and everyone taking part in the CosyChild – Bike & Hike this year! The ‘Amble to Ashbourne’ and the historic ‘SkegVegas 100’ will help give children the chance to experience a holiday they might not otherwise have. Over the past 11 years, the SkegVegas bike ride has raised an incredible £150,000 for us (who can ever say enough about the incredible Terry Willis) and now is raising money for Derby Kids' Camp too – a testament to the power of community. We’re so grateful for your support, and we can’t wait to see you all in action on 17th May! #CosyChild #BikeAndHike #Derby #Derbyshire

I’m really looking forward supporting the CosyChild – Bike & Hike this year. Myself and a group of friends will be joining the ‘Amble to Ashbourne’ on the 17th May. The 20 mile walk from Derby to Ashbourne will help to support summer holidays for children who might not otherwise have the chance to enjoy such experiences. Over the past decade, this community-driven initiative has raised over £150,000 for children’s charities and I can wait to get involved. Interested? Come and join us! www.cosybikeandhike.com Peter E.
