About us

Cyber Aware is a cross-government awareness and behaviour change campaign delivered by the Home Office in conjunction with DCMS alongside the National Cyber Security Centre, and funded by the National Cyber Security Programme in the Cabinet Office. Cyber Aware recommends using a strong, separate password for your email account. Hackers can use your email to access many of your personal accounts, by asking for your password to be reset, and finding out personal information, such as your bank details, address or date of birth, leaving you vulnerable to identity theft or fraud. Cyber Aware also recommends installing the latest software and app updates – this is the latest advice from National Cyber Security Centre, a part of GCHQ. They contain vital security updates which help protect your device from cyber criminals. Security updates are designed to fix weaknesses in software and apps which could be used by hackers to attack your device and steal your identity. Installing them as soon as possible helps to keep your device secure.
