Refreshed Concordat to Support Research Integrity. 👇

Last Thursday, Dr Cole Collins (Project Officer) facilitated the first in-person meeting of the The British Academy Early Career Research Network (BA ECRN) Scotland Consortium, hosted by Edinburgh Napier University. For the first time in Scotland, we invited ECRs into the conversation and to feed directly into the planning, resourcing and development of the Scotland Cluster. The day was divided into three: first, an update from BA colleagues Peris Wambui T. and Anastasia Shanaah; then a workshop on developing the Network and an upcoming celebration event for the Scotland Cluster; followed by presentations from our 2025 Seed Fund winners. The Cluster and Network continues to grow. In Scotland, we have 1172 members and counting, and by summer, the ECRN will be national, covering all areas of the UK to support ECRs. It was joyful for me to hear from both ECRs and our delivery partners across Scottish HEIs and other partners about the impact the ECRN has had on their institutions and personal development. Members expressed wanting to see more collaboration across the sector and we are thinking now about how we can support resource-sharing across Scotland (and possibly further afield). We can't wait to bring all our partners together later this year for a celebration event and to bring together all the brilliant initiatives the Scotland Cluster has developed over the last 3 years. We were delighted to hear about the Seed Fund-winning projects: •      Abigail Pickard, PhD, TAStE - PaCT: Trajectories of Avoidant and SelecTive Eating – Parents and Charities Together, University of Edinburgh. •      Shannon Harris, Exploring Inclusive Entrepreneurial Ecosystems: A Historical Perspective from the Scottish Highlands and Islands, Heriot Watt University. •      Szu-Hsin Wu & Paul Gault, Developing Young People’s Emotional Resilience Through Grief Education, University of Dundee. •      Kristina Saunders, Histories and Imagined Futures of Contraceptive Care for Working-Class Contraceptive Users in Scotland, University of Glasgow. After a long day of discussion and thinking, Joanna Royle rounded up the day with reflections and a chance to build LEGO ducks that represented our successes and aspirations for the Consortium. A huge thank you to Grainne Barkess for offering to host us at Napier, and to Claire Bradley and Joanna for their support in planning the event.
