What does the AI economy really require to succeed in Africa? 🌍   Speaking at the Global AI Summit on Africa yesterday, our President and Group CEO, Hardy Pemhiwa, explained that the AI economy in Africa isn’t reliant on any one element. It needs the entire ecosystem working, beginning with the fundamentals. “If we don’t solve the financial infrastructure and the economy infrastructure that attracts capital that can fuel this growth that we’re looking at, then Africa ends up on the menu, not at the table.”   He explained that AI has the power to amplify the competitiveness of industries across Africa but that beyond foundational sectors such as health and education, the way South Africa needs to use AI is going to be vastly different than the way Zambia needs to be able to apply AI and our approach needs to reflect this.   That’s why our recently announced AI Factories’ purpose is manufacturing intelligence. We are happy to announce new strategic appointments to our leadership team to ensure future competitiveness as we usher in the next growth phase of Cassava Technologies.   These leaders bring a wealth of expertise, enhancing the company’s capabilities in providing Broadband Connectivity, Co-location (data centres), Cloud, Cyber Security, Compute (AI), and Payment - services across more than 30 markets in Africa, the Middle East, India, and Latin America.   1️⃣ Ahmed El Beheiry, COO and Chief AI Officer for Cassava Technologies, will be responsible for the commercial strategy, business processes, CIO, and supply chain. 2️⃣ Deon Geyser has been appointed CEO of Liquid Networks for Cassava Technologies. In his new role, he will be responsible for the connectivity business across Africa, including all of Liquid’s fibre, satellite, wireless, and wholesale voice and connectivity services. 3️⃣ Ziaad Suleman has been appointed the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of our Cassava business in South Africa. He will drive the growth and innovation strategy of the South African operations as the organisation ushers in the next growth phase and ensures future competitiveness. 4️⃣ Adil El Youssefi has been appointed the new CEO of our co-location business for Cassava Technologies. 5️⃣ Wellington Makamure has now been appointed the CEO of Rest of Africa & International for Cassava Technologies. 6️⃣ Finhai Munzara has been appointed Chief Corporate Development Officer for Cassava Technologies. He will be responsible for M&A, corporate finance, and strategic partnerships. 7️⃣ Bronwen Zehmke is now the Group General Counsel for Cassava Technologies. 8️⃣ Leonard Bore is now the Chief Risk and Compliance Officer for Cassava Technologies. He will manage compliance risk, enterprise risk, Internal Audit, and ESG teams. 9️⃣ Sharon Marufu has been appointed the Chief Supply Chain Officer for Cassava Technologies.
