As the last fundraising event with our BHF partner, Rafal Mlynarczyk, Training Specialist, bravely threw himself out of a plane on Friday (with a parachute of course!). The weather was perfect, a beautiful sunny day to watch him emerge from the clouds. The less adventurous supported from the sidelines. Rafal’s daring escapade has currently raised over £300, and you can still donate: Rafal's BHF Skydive is fundraising for British Heart Foundation Well done Rafal – an inspiration to us all! #FeelAdventurous

This year we are working closely with St. Hugh’s School. The local Special Educational Needs School believe in the power of learning together, not only within the confines of the classrooms but as a collective community of parents, teachers and students. Together, they create a supportive environment meeting the unique need of their students and focusing on nurturing the young people entrusted to them. We started our collaboration with judging their Baking Competition! ‘Bake for Bendrigg’ was in aid of raising funds for the school’s Bendrigg Outwards Bound trip later in the year, which we are also hoping to be involved with. Tammy Mitcheson (HR Support Administrator), Richard Boothby (Supply Chain Manager), Ahmad Farooq (Shift Supervisor) and Phil Barnes (HSE Manager) kindly volunteered with the very difficult task of picking winners! This kind of involvement can be so rewarding to both the children and the volunteers. CREATE THAT FEELING OF MEANINGFUL IMPACT IN THE COMMUNITIES WHERE WE OPERATE

CPUK’s Social Fund is open to all employees, available to support employee activities/events, and we are pleased to be supporting a number of our employees in a Football Tournament, with a donation to buy their team kit. The team is taking part in a knock-out football tournament this year in Daventry. The successful teams will have a chance to participate in an ‘Amateur World Cup’ in Majorca in May. Our team train locally every Thursday, also funded by the CPUK Social Fund. GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL! #Feel Engaged

Matthew Wheatley, Group Health, Safety & Quality Officer awarded CPUK employees, including members of our Health & Safety Committee, with the CP trophy marking CPUK’s two years without a Lost Time Injury. This is another amazing accomplishment and only achieved by everyone’s commitment to all areas of on-site health and safety. Health and Safety sits as our top value at CPUK and CANPACK Group. Well done to everybody! #Feel Safe

We are thrilled to announce we have reached our charity target of £20,000, at the end of our two year partnership with the British Heart Foundation. This is an amazing amount of money and will do so much, helping the BHF fund vital research into heart and circulatory diseases including heart attacks, stroke and vascular dementia, and the risk factors that can cause them, such as diabetes and high blood pressure. Thank you to everybody who took part in our challenges including the 3 Peaks Challenge and the Great North Run. We have seen a variety of events from the exhilarating soapbox cart racing and jumping out of a plane (in April – you can still donate: Rafal's BHF Skydive is fundraising for British Heart Foundation) to the tranquillity of recently planting trees. Thank you also to those who have supported by cheering us on, and to everybody who sponsored and donated. It has been a pleasure working with Melanie Meik, our Fundraising Manager and an honour to raise funds for an absolutely amazing cause.

To celebrate Employee Appreciation Day, Friday 7th March, cupcakes were brought in for all employees to enjoy. Philip Fisher, MD also produced a thank you video message outlining CPUK’s achievements over the last 16 years. Our employees are key to our business, they matter, everybody plays their own part. The cupcakes were a small gesture to say thank you to all at CPUK for their commitment and dedication. Our people are what make CPUK work. #FeelAppreciated

CPUK’s 2 year partnership with the BHF comes to an end over the next couple of months and last week we ‘broke ground’ on our last project with the charity, hitting CANPACK’s sustainability value. We are planting 40 new trees at the rear of the building. Each tree can be sponsored by an employee with all monies donated to the BHF. Each sponsor is in memory of somebody present or sadly no longer with us. Our Warehouse team has sponsored in memory of two colleagues from their department who have sadly passed away since our start up in Scunthorpe. A number of us gathered in our wellies for the planting of the first few trees. We must give a big thank you to our gardener for his valued knowledge in all things trees and tree planting. We look forward to planting the remaining trees and watching them grow over the next few years into a mature small woodland area.

CPUK broke its production record of number of cans produced in 24 hours on the 2nd January. This is outstanding and as a huge thank you, we have had food trucks on site yesterday and today for all employees to enjoy. Well done to absolutely everybody. Every one of us plays a part in this result and we should always take the time to celebrate and reward success. #Feel Proud #Feel Part of a Team

As part of our CSR programme, CPUK is always interested in working with local schools, colleges and community groups. So we were delighted to be involved in St. Hughes Special Educational Needs (SEN) School Employer Appreciation Meeting. Tammy Mitcheson, Training Co-ordinator and Richard Boothby, Supply Chain Manager attended the meeting along with North Lincs Council, John Leggott College, CO-OP and many other interested parties. As part of their BTEC qualification, the Year 10 students professionally welcomed guests with refreshments. A very inspiring presentation was given by one of the leading experts in the country on SEN. We are now actively exploring how we might support some of the students with work experience.
