🎙 After a tumultuous week for markets, our new podcasts asks: what next for the UK economy? 🎙 Tune in to hear from Matthew Fell and Debapratim De on: 📉 Why Spring has not yet sprung for the UK economy, and the impact of trend-bucking consumer behaviour on growth. 💰 How a loosening of Government investment may help to turn the tide over the coming twelve months, with day-to-day spending set to rise to £60bn+ over this financial year, compared to a typical £13bn+ increase over 2010-19. 🌎 What fast-moving developments around global trade could mean for firms across all sectors around the country. 🏙 The role of the capital as an engine for growth, and why "good growth in London is great for regions." ✅ The need for policy consistency to crowd-in the private investment in housing, infrastructure and skills that the capital urgently needs. The pair also talk through findings from Deloitte's Chief Financial Officer Survey, which details how corporations are responding to the current trading environment. 📽 Last month we brought together 200+ leaders from across the fields of business, politics and education for the inaugural London Employment and Skills Summit. 📽 The event forms part of our leadership of the London Local Skills Improvement Plan - a comprehensive, collaborative blueprint for closing skills gaps across the capital - compiled alongside FSB Westminster (Federation of Small Businesses), CBI London and the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The increasing need for co-designed training courses, the possible impacts of AI and the importance of EDI initiatives to widen talent pools all emerged as recurring themes on the day. Hear more below from: Our Mark Hilton and Muniya Barua on the aims of the LSIP. Debbie Akehurst of the Central District Alliance on how the Plan is provoking conversation about future skill development in the capital. Hina Bokhari of the Liberal Democrats on the impact of the LSIP to date. Richard Punt of Deloitte on the need for the public and private sectors to come together to address the opportunities and challenges AI poses to workforces. Matthew Hamilton of the South London Partnership on key takeaways from the day. And Peter Phelps of Vorboss on the widespread benefits of employer participation in the LSIP. Great to be joined by all our regional partners: Central London Forward, West London Alliance and Local London 🎓
