After moving to the Business Design Centre in May 2024, Evoca Group is our third resident business from the coffee industry to open their doors; bringing a variety of big names such as Gaggia Milano, Necta, Saeco along with them. We sat down with Andrew Barrow, Evoca Sales Director, to learn more on the company's history and the choice behind coming to Islington. Take a look: https://bit.ly/3EUY4Gi #peopleofthebdc #coffee
About us
The BDC, based in the London Borough of Islington, is a multi-purpose trade centre with a combination of exhibitions, conferences and events alongside a portfolio of showrooms and office spaces. The business has a long history of supporting its people and the community in which it is based, as well working to improve its impact on the environment. The BDC has been a certified carbon neutral venue since 2010 and has its sights set on achieving Net-Zero before 2030. Opened over 37 years ago in 1986, and formerly the Royal Agricultural Hall, the building was rescued from demolition in 1981 by entrepreneur Sam Morris and was fully restored and re-opened as the UK’s first integrated trade, exhibition and conference complex. Today the BDC attracts in excess of nine hundred thousand visitors every year.

At the Business Design Centre, we're big fans of A Good Thing (UK) and are very pleased to see so many items being saved from waste and going on to some great charities and community projects. Thank you Cathy B. and the A Good Thing team for your support in helping us to send less to waste and more to a good cause! If you haven't heard of them yet, then check them out: https://lnkd.in/ePMG2ZX3 #reuse #donations #community #doagoodthing
➕➕➕ We've got amazing matches coming out of our ears! ➕➕➕ 🤔 In case you didn't know, at A Good Thing (UK), we make it easy for businesses to donate unwanted items to local charities. Businesses can list items on our online platform. Charities can respond to those listings and pick up fantastic items, which can make a huge difference for them, for free! The Business Design Centre, which is A Good Thing (UK)'s longest-standing enterprise supporter, has really shown that sharing is caring through a whole host of donations. 🖌️ Makeup brushes went to the Single Homeless Project, where they were put into goodie bags on a women's health day – a beautiful example of giving items that might have just gone in the bin a new home. Instead of going to landfill, they went towards helping women feel valued and cared for during difficult times. 🧦 Socks and travel mugs went to Street Storage, partnered with ShowerBox, into toiletry goodie bags for people experiencing homelessness. 🪑 Bizzie Bodies CIC were the happy recipients of six director-style chairs! These will make great props for the activities they run for young people. 📚 DARE TO HOPE CIC received notebooks, pens, and tote bags, while Raw Material Music & Media Education Ltd gave a brand new milk-frother a home! 📜 Posterboards went to Cultivate London, and Hawley Amateur Boxing will be using brand new beanies and bags as part of a hygiene-poverty project in their local area! 🧵 10 colourful chairs have been donated to AGE CONCERN CAMDEN, to be used at its book club and sewing club. Check out the full scoop, written up by one of our lovely volunteers, Alisha Hampton 👉 https://lnkd.in/esDWefJR

Working once again with our carbon consultants at ecollective we have measured our footprint for 2024. This year we are delighted to report we have now made a 75% reduction since 2018 and are closer to our goal of meeting net-zero by 2030. To make it relatable they helped us quantify what this means in relation to a square metre of our venue space. We know we still have work to do though, and look forward to sharing our plans for the coming years. Until then you can find out about how we are striving to do business better across all aspects of sustainability at the Business Design Centre in our fourth annual impact report: https://lnkd.in/e5TVitvu
