Tingdene Group Marinas Sets a New Standard for Sustainability with First 'Clean Marina' Accreditation on the River Thames THE YACHT HARBOUR ASSOCIATION are delighted to confirm the prestigious Clean Marina accreditation, to Tingdene Racecourse Marina making it the first marina on the River Thames to receive this esteemed recognition for environmental excellence. A huge congratulations to Mark Pearce and his team for their continuous hard working and efforts making this happen. Achieved on 28th March 2025, this milestone highlights Tingdene Marinas’ commitment to sustainable marina operations, setting a benchmark for inland waterways and reinforcing the importance of environmental responsibility within the marine industry. The TYHA Clean Marina programme is designed to help marinas implement best practices in environmental protection, ensuring that operations do not contribute to water pollution. To achieve accreditation, Racecourse Marina Windsor met stringent sustainability criteria. Jonathan White, TYHA General Manager is delighted to see marinas striving hard to meet and exceed the expectations on protecting UK waters, commenting: “Tingdene Marinas and their team at Racecourse Marina deserve a huge congratulations on their hard work and efforts in achieving the TYHA Clean Marina Accreditation.” Richard Birch CMM, Senior Operations Manager at Tingdene Marinas, added: “This achievement is the result of months of dedicated work by the Racecourse Marina team. From refining emergency procedures to improving waste management and engaging visitors in sustainable practices, we have examined every aspect of our operations to ensure compliance with Clean Marina standards. How often do you get to have a photo with an engineering legend? It was a pleasure to be invited by British Marine to represent the National Oceanography Centre last week to represent the The Carbon Trust. Joined by my co-maritime teammate, Sam Strivens. Our goal? Equip UK maritime businesses with clarity on: ⚓ Why decarbonisation matters now more than ever ⚓ How upcoming UK transport policy will shape decisions ⚓ Where to engage with government consultations ⚓ How emissions regulations are affecting their customers ⚓ Why innovation funding isn’t just a nice-to-have, but a must The decisions made between now and before 2030 will shape business positioning all the way to Net Zero in 2050. Getting ahead of the curve isn't just sustainable but key for being a viable business. Key takeaways from the day: 🗣️ Robert Parton CMM, President of British Marine, reminded us that UK maritime is global and trade uncertainty continues to ripple across the sector. 🔋 Electrification is happening but it’s not “sustainability” that sells, it’s usability. Design matters more than ever. 📦 Trade mechanisms like CBAM are already impacting the sector but with the right support, these challenges are solvable.
