📢 MCA launches consultation on updated Marine Equipment Regulations The UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) has opened a six-week public consultation on the proposed Merchant Shipping (Marine Equipment) Regulations 2025, aiming to simplify and strengthen clarity, safety and compliance for post-Brexit marine equipment requirements. Key proposed changes include: ⚓ Replacement of 2016/2019 regulations with a single, updated framework 📜 Flexibility for technical innovation via exemptions under the 'Red Ensign' 📩 Option to apply for a ‘Letter of Acceptance’ for non-UK approved equipment 🌍 Updated requirements for Ballast Water Management Systems 🗓 Consultation open until: 27 May 2025 📬 British Marine encourages all affected members to respond and share feedback.
