Last week, we celebrated Food Waste Action Week! During the week, some of our second year graduates took part in the Company Shop group Luminary Waste Workshop, supported by our Early Career Managers and Bakkavor leaders to discuss elimination of waste and redistribution of surplus. In addition, our graduates took over one of the many Community Store/Community Kitchens which have been set up across the UK by Company Shop Group. #ProudtobeBakkavor #FoodWasteActionWeek

Our #Bakkavor Analytical Services Labs, with a helping hand from our Central Technical team, are taking on an epic group walking challenge. The challenge is to collectively walk the number of steps it would take to reach our Bakkavor USA head office in North California from our Microbiology lab in Holbeach. This works out to be a staggering 9,000,000 steps (3,967 miles)! Our teams are already off to a fantastic start, completing 1.5 million steps, virtually trekking through England, Wales and Ireland and have now ventured into international waters! This is Faye, one of our talented HR apprentices. Here’s what she has to say about her apprenticeship so far… “I decided to do my apprenticeship with Bakkavor due to the progression opportunities, the ability to gain a qualification in people practice and getting real life on the job exposure in my role. It has given me the chance to build my confidence in the workplace since leaving school. Bakkavor offer lots of training off site, and I have had the opportunity to see other sites such as Spalding and Fitzroy to participate in soft skills training with other apprentices in my cohort. The highlight of my job so far would be getting involved in our SEF and site engagement activities, being able to meet our diverse workforce and getting to know them better in a more relaxed environment.” Applications for our 2025 programme are still open!
