With just one month remaining until the Flawed Hero London Marathon 2025, excitement is building for this unique and inclusive event. Scheduled to commence at midnight on April 27th, participants will gather at the iconic Broadway Cinema in Letchworth Garden City to embark on a 26.2-mile journey. Adam Barnes has been training relentlessly in preparation for the marathon, pushing himself both physically and mentally. In 2014, Adam was diagnosed with Stage 4 Medullary Thyroid Cancer (MTC), a rare and incurable form of cancer. After an 8 hour surgery and six weeks of radiotherapy, he navigated his way through a long recovery. Despite setbacks, including the spread of cancer to his lungs in 2019, and most recently to his pelvic bone in 2024, Adam’s determination and positive spirit continue to shine. Following cyberknife radiotherapy to target the cancer in his pelvis, Adam has received incredible news, the treatment is working, and the tumour is reducing in size. This progress has given him even more motivation to take on the marathon and raise awareness for both Pancreatic Cancer UK and the Flawed Hero Movement CIC. Adam’s strength and resilience are deeply rooted in his family’s legacy of perseverance, his father has also bravely faced cancer for over 30 years. With two young sons of his own, Adam remains hopeful and committed to being an inspiration for them, just as his father has been for him. To support his effort, Adam is raising funds through GoFundMe for two causes close to his heart: Pancreatic Cancer UK and the Flawed Hero Movement CIC, which focuses on mental health support. Every donation, big or small, will make a significant impact. This is a one-time marathon challenge for Adam, and he’s incredibly grateful for any support we can offer to help him reach his goal.
