Our team includes many veterans and therefore Remembrance is always a significant event. This year 3 of our team were at the Cenotaph yesterday with the RAF Locking Trade Group 3 Association and RAF Engineering and Airfield Construction Branch Association. Today at RAF Shawbury, our DCASO support team joined the Station’s personnel for their act of remembrance at 11am. The annual Dragon Boat Race hosted by Severn Hospice in Shrewsbury saw a splash of colour this year as a team of colleagues, dressed as superheroes, competed in the event which took place on Sunday 21st July. The team, known as the Aquila Avengers, were dressed as superheroes and took part in three heats, winning their last race and raising over £3000 for Severn Hospice. Despite not making it to the final, their journey was marked by a remarkable improvement and an undeniable sense of fun and philanthropy.   The Aquila Avengers, based at RAF Shawbury, rowed together for a cause close to their hearts. Organiser Kevin Lutman brought together a team with a goal to raise money for Severn Hospice in the memory of loved ones, some of which were cared for by the charity. On Saturday, July 27th, Aquila attended the RAF Marham Families Day – and what an event it was!   Our STEM worksheets were a hit, with children eagerly completing our Aquila word searches, colouring pages, and math puzzles. The queue for our Lego Competition grew throughout the day, and we were thrilled to announce two winners!   A big shoutout to Nigel and Scott for showcasing our air traffic display. Families were captivated as they listened in on real conversations between ATC and pilots, and observed flights on the map flying over RAF Marham.   Thank you to everyone who stopped by – we had a fantastic time meeting with you all! #raffamiliesday #STEM #supportingourcommunities

Leadership Change at Aquila ATMS. A warm welcome to Peter Hitchcock who is taking over from Michael Stoller as the new Aquila CEO from today, 1 August. After six successful years with Aquila Mike is moving on to new opportunities and Peter will be taking the reins. Peter arrives with a successful 32-year career in Thales behind him, bringing to the role a wealth of General Management experience leading safety-critical aviation businesses for civil and military customers worldwide. He has served on the Board of many joint venture companies including AirTanker in the UK. Until July, Peter was as VP of Thales’ worldwide Training & Simulation business, based in Paris. With a passion for innovation and people at the forefront of a thriving business, Peter is looking to drive Aquila into a new chapter of growth and achievement.
