  • Aquatics GB and AP Race are proud to be teaming up to deliver a social impact project that will positively impact hundreds of people across this month’s Aquatics GB Swimming Championships 🤝📈 As part of this updated social impact programme - after more than 800 individuals engaged in inclusive opportunities with Aquatics GB at last year’s event in London - the AP Race team are on board to support a selection of our events in 2025. These sessions will include Adam Peaty getting involved in a water safety and confidence event for primary school children, a female empowerment session and an Aquatics GB Clubs Masterclass 🌟 🗣️ Aquatics GB CEO Drew Barrand said: "While our elite athletes will be competing for World Championship selection and looking to come out on top of some eye-catching races, these Championships are also a platform for us to help promote a love of aquatics and the importance of the life-saving skill that swimming is. This six-day community involvement programme will play an important part in that for children and young adults living around the London Aquatics Centre area, while we will also be continuing to make lots of noise about the Support School Swimming campaign that we have launched with Swim England, Scottish Swimming and Swim Wales, to raise awareness of the vital importance of school swimming across the country." 💬 AP Race CEO Ed Baxter said: “We are very proud to partner with Aquatics GB across these social impact sessions at the Aquatics GB Swimming Championships. Over the last six years, myself and Adam have poured all our efforts into building AP Race into a brand that can have the maximum impact in swimming and push the competitive swimming experience to be at the highest level."

  • On the back of International Women's Day at the weekend, Karen Webb Moss - the first woman in the role of permanent Chair of Aquatics GB since her appointment in 2022 - has given her insight into the importance of progressing gender equality at the top level in sport and beyond, how the Aquatics GB Board has developed in that space - and how there is still more being done. Aquatics GB: Karen, you are Chair of the Aquatics GB Board, which currently has a majority of women sitting on it. Speaking to your experience, how rare is it in elite sport for there to be that level of female representation at the top level - and why is it so important? Karen Webb Moss (KWM): "Unfortunately, this is still a rarity. Although the drive towards gender equality, on and off the field of play, has picked up pace, the number of female Presidents leading International Sports Federation can be counted on one hand. "Across British Olympic and Paralympic sport, we are doing better, and I am certainly not alone in my role - we now have nearly a quarter of women who are Chairs of National Governing Bodies (NGBs). This is important as it's not just a 'nice-to-do' or about meeting any quotas, it makes business sense. Sport needs to embrace the disciplines of good governance, and equality is core to that. "When funding is coming from Government, National Lotteries, sponsors and broadcasters, sport must be responsible, accountable and transparent. Having worked in global sport for decades, I've learned a lot and seen a lot change. Overall, what is important is a mindset of inclusive leadership and inclusion on purpose. "With diversity and inclusion, you get creativity, empathy, perspective and positive results. Diverse and inclusive organisations are more creative, better problem-solvers and broader discussions take place. Gender equality is important because we all know that to get traction, ensure your reason for being is relevant and ensure your messaging and reputation are current appealing, you have to reflect the whole of society." 📝 ⤵️ Read more from Karen in the comments
