  • What is the biggest problem for Management Consulting Partners and Business Leaders currently? Talking with a business yesterday the answer became very clear as two fold. 1. High attrition in middle management and especially top performers that can secure new opportunities with competitors 2. A costly and underutilised bench of 2021 junior hires that have neither the capability nor desire to win business during this time period. The forecast for this market indicates a desirable candidate as someone who can win new business and pull a bunch of staff off the bench for projects. Meanwhile smaller boutique practices are picking up these middle management candidates promising more control over their work and an improved company culture without needing to compete on salary. If you're a Manager or Senior Manager in this market at the moment, it's a good time for you.

  • Ask the right questions! Seems like an obvious statement, but one that we're hearing is a massive pain point when it comes to prospective conversations with new businesses and they're relationship with current PSL agencies. Apparently it seems obvious to a client when you are reading from a script, attempting to get all the questions on a form answered, even if completely irrelevant. What is the solution when training new staff as obviously, "you'll get the hang of it with time" doesn't really stack up either. An interesting thought for a Thursday morning...

  • Big 4 firm KPMG merges its UK & Swiss practices in a move to become a new $4.4 billion business. UK CEO Jonathan Holt comments “This marks a historic moment for both firms. We will be stronger as one combined firm and together we will have the scale to significantly enhance our ability to deliver great outcomes for our clients both internationally and within our domestic markets. Merging brings huge benefits for our clients, our people, and our partnership and means we can now grow faster, be more profitable and invest together to create new services in a sustainable way." Switzerland CEO Stefan Pfister followed with “Both partnerships have made an important decision today, which will evolve and future proof our firms for the global business challenges ahead. Together we will be more agile and can bring the best of KPMG’s multidisciplinary model and sector expertise to clients nationally and internationally while at the same time maintaining our local market understanding and execution power.” Keep up to date with all #ConsultingNews and follow AMA Talent Executives
