💡 Navigating the BD Life Cycle: Value Drivers & Lessons from Both Sides of the Table. It was a pleasure to speak at the Pharma Partnering Summit in Basel this week. I shared insights on the Business Development life cycle—from strategic fit and partner scouting to deal structuring and alliance execution—drawing on my experience in both Pharma and Biotech. Thank you to the organizers for the kind invitation, to the engaged audience for the thoughtful Q&A, and to the fantastic summit chairman, Luis, for setting the tone. 🔍 Some of the most resonant Do’s & Don’ts discussed: For Biotech: ✔️ Come prepared—know your data and your competition ✔️ Understand your partner’s unmet needs and gaps ✔️ Surround yourself with experienced advisors ❌ Don’t cold-email without doing your homework ❌ Don’t overpromise or inflate timelines For Pharma: ✔️ Provide specific, actionable feedback (e.g. on experiment design, models, or indications) ✔️ Engage early and constructively—even if you’re not ready to deal ✔️ Ensure eye-to-eye conversations with respect and clarity ❌ Don’t ghost—uncertainty often pushes Biotechs to cast a wider net, which adds unnecessary noise and effort on both sides 🤝 At the end of the day, successful partnerships come down to mutual respect, transparency, and long-term value creation. 📩 If you'd like a copy of the slide deck, feel free to comment below and I’ll gladly share it! Let’s keep the conversation going—what do you see as the most important BD Do’s and Don’ts in your experience? #PharmaPartnering #BusinessDevelopment #Biotech #Pharma #DealMaking #AllianceManagement #BDLifecycle #ValueCreation
