10YA – Celebrating a decade of Collaborative Excellence 🎖🤝 aiTriage™: A milestone in AI-Driven Healthcare 🚀 Let’s share the journey behind aiTriage™, the first digital health product co-developed by DxD Hub - Diagnostics Development Hub in collaboration with TIIM Healthcare, SingHealth, Duke-NUS Medical School and Singapore General Hospital with the support of National Health Innovation Centre (NHIC). Launched in 2019, this partnership brought together researchers and clinician-scientists from Duke-NUS and SGH, alongside the productization and regulatory experts from DxD Hub. The result? aiTriage™ was approved as a Class C Medical Device by the Singapore Health Services Authority in November 2022. 🤝 What is aiTriage™? 🧠 aiTriage™ is a SaMD (software as a medical device) platform powered by machine learning algorithms. It uses heart rate variability (HRV) from just 5 minutes of ECG monitoring to predict the risk of Major Adverse Cardiac Events (MACE), providing a risk score between 1 to 100. Striving to become a standard clinical pathway, aiTriage™: 1️⃣ Offers a non-invasive, rapid and accurate approach to chest pain triage 2️⃣ Outperforms traditional risk scoring tools like HEART, TIMI and GRACE 3️⃣ Integrates seamlessly to adapt to various healthcare environments while enhancing resource efficiency in emergency departments and remote clinics Why does it matter? Chest pain can arise from various conditions, including anxiety, panic attacks and heart attacks. By predicting MACE within minutes, aiTriage™ enables swift identification of high-risk patients, optimises resource allocation and lowers healthcare costs which is beneficial in resource-constrained settings. Today, aiTriage™ is deployed in a Singapore hospital, significantly advancing AI-driven chest pain management. 🏥 We are grateful to TIIM Healthcare, SingHealth, Duke-NUS, SGH and NHIC who persevered greatly during the pandemic to bring this innovative solution to fruition. ✨Stay tuned as we reveal more items from our time capsule, celebrating the milestones that continue to shape the future of healthcare. 🔗 Bridging Diagnostic Gaps in Chest Pain Management: General Practice vs. Emergency Departments A study in Family Practice revealed significant differences in chest pain diagnoses between general practices and emergency departments (EDs). General practitioners frequently encounter musculoskeletal and gastrointestinal conditions, while serious cardiovascular issues, like unstable angina, are more commonly diagnosed in EDs. 🔍 Key Findings: General practices often diagnose less critical conditions, while EDs see more severe cardiovascular cases. 🩺 Patients arriving by ambulance have a higher likelihood of serious conditions compared to those self-referred or GP-referred. 💡 How aiTriage Can Help: aiTriage bridges the diagnostic gap between GPs and EDs, ensuring all chest pain patients receive accurate, timely care—no matter where they first seek help. For General Practitioners: aiTriage enables early risk stratification, helping GPs identify high-risk patients and ensure they receive timely hospital care. 🚑 For EDs: aiTriage assists in rapidly differentiating between high- and low-risk chest pain, improving resource use and patient flow. ⏱️ Reference: https://lnkd.in/gTYhUsNC #ChestPain #aiTriage #GeneralPractice #EmergencyCare #HealthTech #PatientOutcomes #HealthcareInnovation #DigitalHealth #ClinicalDecisionMaking

🚨 Enhancing Outcomes in Chest Pain Management: The Impact of ED Volume and the Role of aiTriage A study published in Circ Cardiovasc Qual Outcomes (2018) analyzed data from 498,291 patients across Ontario (2008–2014), revealing a strong link between higher ED volumes and improved patient outcomes for those presenting with chest pain. But there’s more to the story... 🔑 Key Insights: Higher ED Volume: Emergency departments handling over 1,400 chest pain cases annually saw lower mortality rates and reduced ACS hospitalizations post-discharge. 📉 Processes of Care: High-volume EDs saw more cardiology consultations, increased cardiac medication use, and better diagnostic follow-up within 30 days. 🩺 ✨ aiTriage is changing the game by providing real-time 30-day MACE predictions, empowering clinicians to make faster, more accurate decisions for chest pain patients—regardless of ED volume. 💡 How aiTriage Makes a Difference: Low-Volume EDs: aiTriage ensures even lower-volume EDs can provide high-quality chest pain management, filling the gap where volume might fall short. High-Volume EDs: Streamlines triage and reduces bottlenecks, optimizing care pathways for faster, more efficient treatment. ⏱️ 🔍 The Future of Chest Pain Management: As we move toward a more tech-enabled future in emergency care, integrating innovative tools like aiTriage will be key to delivering timely, effective care—no matter the size of the ED. 👉 Reference: https://lnkd.in/ghzMhfnf #HealthcareInnovation #aiTriage #EmergencyCare #ChestPain #HealthTech #Cardiology #MACE #DigitalHealth

Enhancing Chest Pain Assessment in Primary Care: The Role of aiTriage The management of chest pain in primary care presents significant challenges and uncertainties. A systematic review by Harskamp et al. (2019) highlights several clinical decision rules (CDRs) designed to differentiate cardiac from non-cardiac chest pain. Notably, while the Marburg Heart Score has shown promise for assessing stable coronary artery disease (CAD) in patients with intermittent chest pain, effectively ruling out acute coronary syndrome (ACS) remains complex. Key Study Insights: - Clinical Decision Rules: The Marburg Heart Score, among other CDRs, utilizes basic patient information and clinical signs to assess the likelihood of coronary diseases, showing higher accuracy than clinical judgment alone. - Gaps in Acute Management: Existing CDRs in general practice settings lack the sensitivity to safely exclude ACS, underscoring a need for tools that combine clinical assessment with rapid diagnostic tests. Introducing aiTriage: In response to these challenges, our product, aiTriage, offers a transformative approach by integrating advanced predictive algorithms with quick, accessible testing. aiTriage enhances the assessment of chest pain through: - Rapid Risk Assessment: Provides a 30-day Major Adverse Cardiac Event (MACE) prediction within minutes, supporting primary care physicians in making informed decisions about patient management. - Seamless Integration: Works alongside existing clinical workflows, adding depth to traditional assessments without the need for complex new protocols. The Role of aiTriage in Primary Care: aiTriage can be particularly valuable in environments where rapid, point-of-care testing complements clinical decision-making, bridging the gap identified in the current CDRs. By providing immediate risk stratification, aiTriage could reduce unnecessary referrals and ensure that high-risk patients are identified and managed promptly. Conclusion: As the healthcare community continues to strive for better patient outcomes and efficient management in primary care, tools like aiTriage represent a significant step forward in the management of chest pain. They offer the potential to combine the reliability of clinical scores with the precision of real-time data, ensuring that every patient receives the right level of care at the right time.
