LA and Brisbane Olympians are already in your system – how are you supporting them? The average age of Olympians at Tokyo 2020 was 27 and it’s expected to see a similar age profile from Paris 2024. This suggests that athletes who will represent your nation at Los Angeles 2028 are already 18 to 22 years old today and those who will compete at Brisbane 2032 are between 14 and 18. Across Southeast Asia and Oceania, many of these future Olympians are already in your sport. Some are emerging through national programs, others are developing in local clubs or schools. The window to shape their journey is now. Los Angeles and Brisbane represent two critical targets for Southeast Asian and Oceania sport. LA offers a medium-term focus for athletes already inside the system and Brisbane presents a longer-term opportunity to build from the ground up with a strategic and sustained approach. TiiA Consulting partners with sport organizations and high-performance system leaders to build clear connected and realistic strategies that deliver results. We help align people, systems and resources around athlete development and performance. Whether you're looking to refine current high-performance plans or develop a whole-of-system strategy toward 2028 and 2032 we can support you. Athlete success is built long before the podium, through planning, aligned systems and relentless execution where every session moves the athlete closer to their potential The question is not just who will be ready to compete in LA or Brisbane but what your system is doing now to make that possible. If you're ready to take the next step in preparing your sport for Los Angeles 2028 and Brisbane 2032 let’s start the conversation. hashtag #HighPerformanceStrategy #Brisbane2032 #LA2028 #AthleteDevelopment #TiiAConsulting #SoutheastAsiaSport #FutureFocused #HighPerformance #SportsLeadership #AthleteDevelopment #StrategicPlanning #SportStrategy #TiiAConsulting #VietnamSport #SEAGames2025 #SportsLeadership #AsianSport #AFC #Basketball #AsianAcquatics #AsianVolleyball #Badminton #TableTennis #Athletics #Boxing #Cycling #Hockey #Rugby #Squash #Karate #PhilippineSports #SportsSG #ThailandSports #MalaysianSports #LaosSports #IndonesianSports #CambodiaSports #BruneiSports #MyanmarSports #VietnamSports #TimorLesteSports #ONOC

It's not easy being a Director on a Sports Board Governance has always been a constant in my professional journey. Over the past 25 years, I’ve had the privilege of working with Boards across four countries and three continents at community, national and international levels in roles ranging from CEO or Executive Director and as a board member myself. I’ve also delivered governance training for the Australian Sports Commission (ASC) to National Sports Organizations, helping others understand the importance of good governance in sport. I recently completed the ASC's online governance courses as a refresher to stay contemporary. The four modules, The Start Line, The Defence, The Spirit of the Game and The Players are practical, contemporary and well worth the short amount of time it takes to complete them. They prompted me to reflect on what makes governance effective: The pivotal role of the Chair The need for boards to look forward, not just back The power of diversity in driving stronger decisions The importance of a strong, clear CEO-Board relationship Governance isn't just about compliance—it's about leadership, culture, and purpose. I'm still learning, and still inspired. See my recent blog on this topic: https://lnkd.in/gUER-iWB TiiA Consulting can support Chairs, Boards and CEO to enhance your current governance environment through our evaluations, training and mentoring support. Vietnam Sports 20-year Planning Forum I recently had the opportunity to present at the 2026–2046 High-Performance Planning Workshop hosted by the Vietnam Ministry of Sports and Tourism – Vietnam Sports Department. The forum brought together leaders and decision-makers to shape the future of elite sport in Vietnam. I shared insights on the importance of high-performance planning to underpin sustained success at the highest level. Talent alone isn’t enough. Without the right plan, aligned support and timely execution, even the most gifted athletes can fall short. Key drivers of high performance that I shared examples included: Clear ambitions and long-term vision Personalized athlete development pathways Integration of sports science and sports medicine Strong leadership and a high-trust team environment Strategic and tactical planning Accountability and follow-through Athlete success is built long before the podium —through purposeful planning, aligned systems and relentless execution where every session moves the athlete closer to their reaching their goal. What’s one thing your organization can do today to better prepare athletes and coaches to perform when it matters most? #HighPerformance #SportsLeadership #AthleteDevelopment #StrategicPlanning #SportStrategy #TiiAConsulting #VietnamSport #SEAGames2025 #SportsLeadership #AsianSport #AFC #Basketball #AsianAcquatics #AsianVolleyball #Badminton #TableTennis #Athletics #Boxing #Cycling #Hockey #Rugby #Squash #Karate #PhilippineSports #SportsSG #ThailandSports #MalaysianSports #LaosSports #IndonesianSports #CambodiaSports #BruneiSports #MyanmarSports #VietnamSports #TimorLesteSports

Exploring Learning Management Systems (LMS) for Multi-Client Use Currently exploring options for a multi-client Learning Management System (LMS)—with an eye on future multi-lingual functionality. The goal: a scalable, flexible solution that can support different clients and programs under one platform. Tried out the LinkedIn Services Marketplace for the first time and I’m pleasantly surprised! Great experience with a high volume of competitive and quality responses to review. A useful way to tap into expertise and compare options. Still navigating the decision-making process but grateful for the insights and proposals received so far. If you’ve had success (or learnings!) setting up LMS platforms for multiple clients or across languages, I’d love to hear your experience. #LMS #EdTech #DigitalLearning #Consulting #MultilingualLearning #LinkedInMarketplace #LearningStrategy

The Usual Approach to a Strategic Planning Workshop – Is It Enough? The Classic Strategic Planning Group Work Moment… We’ve all been there. You get handed a topic, a marking pen and a piece of butcher’s paper, along with several colleagues—none of whom are entirely sure what they’re supposed to be doing. A few minutes of awkward silence, then someone starts writing, another starts nodding and soon enough, words fill the page. But is it strategic insight or just an exercise in filling space? Good group work in a strategic planning session needs structure, facilitation and clear direction. When it comes to strategic planning workshops, there’s a familiar rhythm most organizations follow: Step 1: Review the past – A look at performance, key achievements and lessons learned. Step 2: Assess the present – Identifying strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats . Define the future – Setting vision, priorities and strategic goals. Develop an action plan – Translating strategy into tangible steps and responsibilities. This structured approach works—but is it enough? Too often, these sessions become tick-the-box exercises, heavy on discussions but light on actionable outcomes. A strategic plan is only as good as its execution. That’s why a well-designed workshop should: Prioritize clarity – Ensure key priorities are actionable, measurable, and owned by the right people. Encourage real debate – Create space for diverse perspectives and challenge assumptions. Bridge strategy to operations – Move beyond theory and connect vision to day-to-day realities. Embed accountability – Define clear success measures and governance structures to track progress. Creating Real Engagement and Insight At TiiA Consulting, our facilitation process and style empowers workshop participants to find their voice and contribute in ways that generate wider input and more insightful, actionable plans. By applying structured facilitation techniques—including the 5 Whys approach to problem-solving—we help teams move beyond surface-level answers to uncover the root causes of challenges. Rather than just filling flip charts with ideas, we focus on meaningful dialogue and clear next steps that drive real strategic impact. What’s been your experience with strategic planning workshops? Do they lead to meaningful action or just another document on the shelf? #Consulting #Strategy #SportBusiness #Leadership #Opportunities #SportConsulting #TiiAConsulting #SEAGames2025 #SportsLeadership #AsianSport #AFC #Basketball #AsianAcquatics #AsianVolleyball #Badminton #Athletics #Boxing #Cycling #Hockey #Rugby #Squash #Karate #PhilippineSports #SportsSG #ThailandSports #MalaysianSports #LaosSports #IndonesianSports #CambodiaSports #BruneiSports #MyanmarSports #VietnamSports #TimorLesteSports #Strategy #Leadership #StrategicPlanning #Workshops #Execution #Facilitation

Performance isn’t just about talent—it’s also about having the right resources at the right time! Athletes and coaches often underperform not because they lack ability, but because they don’t get what they need when they need it. This week, I’m in the Philippines working with a national sports association to shape a plan for their national team’s future success. What stands out? The incredible collaboration between athletes and staff. So many of the solutions to achieve their ambitions are about action—not just funding. Clear ambitions, strong culture, understanding our current status and where we want to go along with creative decision-making matter just as much as investment. It’s inspiring to see a commitment to real change. Looking forward to seeing how this plan drives performance! "The hardest part of consulting isn’t the work—it’s the work that goes into getting the work." – David A. Fields David A. Fields writes about the Six Pillars of Consulting Success and they resonate: Right-Side Up Thinking – Focus on what clients need, not what you want to sell. Maximize Impact – Deliver real, tangible value. Build Visibility – Be seen so clients can find you. Connect with Clients – Relationships matter more than pitches. Close with Confidence – Selling isn’t about convincing, it’s about clarity. Deliver with Excellence – Quality work creates repeat business. The past month has been nothing short of absolutely addictive! Ongoing discussions in 11 different countries, with potential collaborations spanning education, touring, merchandise, equipment, strategy, broadcast, governance, sport for good with potential across more than a dozen different sports. Stay focused I hear some of you say… be open to opportunity I’m embracing right now. I spoke with other consultants from different countries "It's hard and it's exhilarating" was the consensus… The consistency of a salary and a job is always enticing. But the anticipation of working across some, if not all, of these opportunities? It’s absolutely addictive. I finished writing up my latest blog on the Australian Sports System... this will seem just business as usual for some - but for so many organizations they haven't set their plans before or are yet to do so for this next cycle. Here are some things which have been consistent across some major sports in Australia. Please have a look and see how your plans align with these consistent themes... What's your next planning process look like - or if you're ready for a first plan, TiiA Consulting would love to chat about how we could facilitate the process with you. https://lnkd.in/gGYZEqyZ

Australia is well-known for its sports culture from grassroots to professional and national team levels, so this weekend, my sporting experience took a unique turn as I explored the strategies of 10 different Australian sports. While it wasn't the typical NBA All-Star weekend type of sports experience, I got some valuable insights into the country's sports ecosystem and I found it enjoyable! One key observation is that successful sports have well-defined multi-year strategies and share transparently their ambitions and actions to achieve success. While this might be standard practice for some, it's not universal. My weekend didn't involve cheering for a specific team or athlete, but rather my ongoing cheering for sport as a significant contributor to health, education, personal growth and good old sport for sports sake, competition and fun with your mates . Stay tuned for more reflections to come!

Why the 2025 SEA Games Matter – More Than Just Medals Having lived and worked in Southeast Asia for nearly eight years, I’ve seen how sport unites communities, ignites passion and builds national pride. With over 680 million people, this region breathes sport—from watching kids playing in the streets to hearing whole villages cheering their national teams. That’s why the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand are such a big deal. With 50 sports, 105 disciplines and 574 events, this isn’t just a competition—it’s a launchpad for athletes, a catalyst for development and an inspiration for future generations. A Stepping Stone for Athletes & Coaches For many, the SEA Games are a first taste of international competition and a gateway to the Asian Games and Olympics. Athletes sharpen their skills, coaches refine strategies, and match officials elevate their expertise. A Big Win for Thailand Beyond the podium, hosting a multi-sport event leaves a lasting legacy. Investments in sports infrastructure, tourism and event management will benefit Thailand’s sports ecosystem for years to come. The Power of Planning & Continuous Improvement Great performances—on and off the field—don’t happen by chance. Post-Games reviews help identify what worked, what needs improvement and how to prepare better for the 2026 Asian Games. Inspiring the Next Generation The SEA Games are about more than sport—they bring nations together. From friendly rivalries to shared celebrations, they foster unity and showcase the power of sport to transcend borders. As we count down to the opening ceremony, let’s celebrate the athletes, the hosts, and the passion that fuels this region.
