As part of our journey towards reducing our carbon footprint, we are improving energy efficiency and increasing our share of energy from renewables in our processing facilities. We’re excited to announce a landmark partnership between Olam Agri and Husk Power to advance sustainable energy in Nigeria’s agricultural sector. Together, we’re launching a 1.3 MWp solar PV and 860 kWh battery energy storage system at our rice operations in Rukubi, Nasarawa State—a major step toward decarbonising our operations and reducing reliance on diesel. This solar-battery hybrid system, under a 10-year power purchase agreement, will: ☀️ Deliver stable, cost-effective, and cleaner energy 💲 Cut fuel costs 🌍 Significantly reduce carbon emissions This collaboration builds on our commitment to sustainable energy solutions, following the successful introduction of a solar farm at our rice mill in 2024. Anil Nair, Head of Olam Agri in Nigeria, emphasised: "By implementing renewable energy solutions in Nigeria, Olam Agri is not just meeting its own needs but inspiring others to follow suit and help drive sustainability in the agricultural sector across Africa and beyond." #OlamAgri #Sustainability #CleanEnergy #SolarPower #Agriculture #Nigeria #EnergyTransition #PartnershipForImpact #RenewableEnergy Image courtesy of Husk Power.

Smallholder Andean farmers in the Puno region face significant challenges in accessing financial education. With limited access to formal financial services, geographic isolation, and low levels of financial literacy, managing personal and farm finances effectively becomes a constant struggle. Many farmers face difficulties in budgeting, saving, and securing credit, which limits their ability to invest in better agricultural practices and build long-term financial stability. In response to these challenges, our Specialty Grains & Seeds team in Peru has partnered with Banco de Crédito BCP to provide financial education to organic quinoa farmers in the south of the country. We visited 10 communities across the Puno region and trained over 300 smallholder farmers during the period of March 17th to 23rd. To ensure inclusivity, the sessions were conducted in Spanish, Quechua, and Aymara. Key topics covered in the training included: ✔️ Budgeting and Saving ✔️ Credit History and Fraud Prevention ✔️ Using Digital Tools like Yape (a digital wallet app) ✔️ Payment Solutions and Transaction Security By equipping smallholder quinoa farmers with the knowledge and tools to manage their finances, we are helping create more resilient and empowered farming communities. For over 30 years, Olam Agri has proudly supported Ghana’s journey toward food security and industrial transformation. It was an honour to host Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, Minister for Trade, Industry, and Agribusiness at our wheat milling facility in Kpone on April 4, 2025. The visit was part of the Ministry’s ongoing engagement with local manufacturers and a valuable opportunity for us at Olam Agri to showcase our contribution to Ghana’s food industry and alignment with the country’s industrial development agenda. Hon. Ofosu-Adjare commended our commitment to workplace safety, job creation, and support for the government’s 24-hour economy policy. As she noted: “I am at Olam Agri today because they are an integral part of agri business in this country. I am impressed with what I have seen so far. The first thing I look at when I visit any factory is their work environment. How safe is it for their employees to work in safety and I think that they have passed that test." Our Country Head, Baibhav Biswas, reaffirmed our long-term commitment to Ghana: “Ghana has always presented itself as a significant investment opportunity. We have a team of over 1,500 dedicated employees in Ghana whose skills and dedication have been instrumental in our growth. We aim to grow with Ghana, not just in Ghana.” During the visit, the minister toured our wheat milling operations—where brands like First Choice, Royal Gold, Adepa, and Vital are produced—and inspected progress on our upcoming pasta production plant, set to reduce Ghana’s reliance on pasta imports and enhance local value addition. We thank the Hon. Minister and her team for their visit and look forward to continuing our shared mission of building a resilient, self-sufficient agrifood sector. #OlamAgri #GhanaIndustry #TradeAndAgribusiness #FoodSecurity #MadeInGhana #IndustrialDevelopment #24HourEconomy #LocalProduction

  • At Olam Agri, community support in our forest concessions goes far beyond sustainable timber management. For years, we’ve invested in vital healthcare infrastructure—including the region’s largest and most advanced hospital and four rural clinics—providing free care to employees, their families, and the wider community. Last week, we were honoured to welcome His Excellency Prof. Jean-Rosaire Ibara, Minister of Health and Population of the Republic of Congo, to our Pokola site. His visit underscored the importance of improving healthcare access for Indigenous communities. From touring our medical facilities to meeting families at our newly launched Indigenous patient boarding house, Prof. Ibara witnessed the tangible impact of our work. Two new partnerships were signed to strengthen these efforts: 👩⚕️ “Alliance Santé Likouala” Partnership (sponsored by ADENTRA Group)—to modernise health centres, train medical staff, and improve access to hygiene and clean water. 🏥 Memorandum of Understanding for the Renovation of CSI Mimbeli—ensuring critical facility upgrades and enhanced medical services. The cotton sector in Togo has faced significant challenges. For over a decade, soil degradation and declining yields have posed major challenges for farmers. Recognising the need for sustainable solutions, our cotton business in Togo has partnered with the University of Essex and the The British Academy to organise a multi-stakeholder workshop to share key findings from a survey on regenerative agriculture practices in Togo's cotton sector. The workshop convened cotton producers, researchers from the University of Lomé, experts from ITRA Kolocopé, and technical and financial partners to: ✅ Analyse the regenerative practices identified in the study ✅ Address barriers to their adoption ✅ Update technical guidelines for cotton farmers ✅ Co-design an implementation strategy tailored to local conditions In his opening address, Martin Drevon, Director General of our cotton business in Togo, emphasised: “Sustainability issues are no longer an option but an absolute necessity for us. Our commitment to sustainable agricultural practices is a strategic priority that guides all our actions". #RegenerativeAgriculture #SustainableFarming #Cotton #Togo #OlamAgri
