Meet Wei Liang Chiang, a SG film director whose work has touched hearts worldwide and has won him prestigious awards at the 77th Cannes Film Festival and the 61st Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival in 2024. His filmmaking journey was fuelled by the support of IMDA’s SG Digital Scholarship, which helped him connect with prominent mentors and filmmakers along the way. Thanks to the SG Digital Scholarship, Wei Liang had the opportunity to study at Taipei National University of the Arts, where he learned from acclaimed directors and producers like Liao Ching-sung, Wang Tung, and Peggy Chiao. This experience inspired him to pursue his dreams in filmmaking. Our first-ever Tech Skill-Up Festival, an initiative of the TechSkills Accelerator for ITE and Polytechnics (TIP) Alliance, was a resounding success! Senior Minister of State for Digital Development and Information (MDDI), Mr Kiat How Tan graced the event and delivered an opening address. Close to 100 companies across diverse industries participated, offering more than 1,000 job opportunities in tech disciplines such as AI & Data Engineering, Cybersecurity Analysis, and Full Stack Development. The Festival underscored the growing importance of skills-based hiring, providing curated career advancement and upskilling pathways for Infocomm Technology students, graduates, mid-careerists and experienced professionals. Over 1,000 attendees gained insights into in-demand tech skills, networked with industry leaders, and connected with 8 Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs) and certification providers such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) and General Assembly for training opportunities.
