Here’s the latest buzz on the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ). From industry development, business opportunities to jobs, the JS-SEZ is a win-win pairing to build on our long economic and social ties. Companies like Old Chang Kee, with its Johor production facility since 2011, plans to tap the SEZ for global expansion while maintaining Singapore as its global HQ. DayOne has officially broken ground on its Chonburi Tech Park (CTP) Data Center campus in Chonburi, Thailand—a pivotal step in advancing Thailand’s digital infrastructure and strengthening its role as a regional hub for cloud computing, AI, and next-generation technology solutions. With a $1 billion investment committed over the next five years, DayOne is building a hyperscale data center park powered by 180MW of grid capacity and designed for scalability and energy efficiency. The campus will integrate cutting-edge liquid cooling technology to support high-performance computing and meet the growing demands of hyperscalers and enterprises. Jamie Khoo, CEO of DayOne, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to Thailand’s digital future, stating, "Our $1 billion commitment will deliver state-of-the-art infrastructure capable of supporting AI, cloud computing, and high-performance digital services, positioning Thailand as a key hub for global digital infrastructure and technological innovation. We are proud to invest in Thailand’s future and collaborate with industry leaders to create a sustainable, next-generation data center ecosystem.” Strategically located in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), the project is backed by strong public-private collaboration with key government agencies and industry leaders. Mr. Pongpol Yodmuangcharoen, Secretary to the Minister of Industry, emphasized the project's significance, stating, "This groundbreaking is about more than just digital infrastructure—it’s about powering Thailand’s rise as a digital powerhouse. Through strong policies like the Cloud First Policy, we are fostering an environment where data centers like DayOne don’t just support businesses but power Thailand’s digital future." A highlight of the evening was the signing of a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with a Japan-based world-leading industrial group. This collaboration will integrate cutting-edge modular data center technology and expertise in energy and cooling systems, enabling faster, more scalable deployments while optimizing efficiency, sustainability, and performance. Through such and future partnerships, DayOne is set to further strengthen our end-to-end supply chain capabilities, building on the robust foundation we have established in Malaysia and Southeast Asia to support our regional and global growth.
