Patients at Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast are now considered the safest in Northern Ireland following the installation of MAUS fire suppression technology. #Lithium battery fires are a growing safety concern in the micromobility industry. That’s why we partnered with Voi Technology, a leader in electric scooters (e-scooters), to conduct a controlled fire test evaluating the MAUS Stixx PRO automatic fire suppression system. The test focused on high-output  #36V lithium batteries, building on previous successful tests with 18V batteries. Two real-world fire scenarios were simulated: one involving severe battery failure due to intentional damage and another replicating a charging malfunction. In the charging malfunction scenario, the MAUS Stixx PRO fire suppression system activated automatically, quickly extinguishing the fire and keeping the external cabinet temperature below 60°C. As the use of electric scooters and e-bikes continues to grow, so does the need for fire safety solutions that address the risks associated with lithium batteries. Overheating, electrical faults, and thermal runaway pose serious hazards, and automatic fire suppression systems play a crucial role in mitigating these risks. Voi Technology provided high-output lithium batteries for this test, supporting efforts to validate the MAUS Stixx PRO’s performance on larger battery systems. This test does not reflect on the safety of Voi’s batteries or products but aligns with their commitment to exploring additional safety measures for the industry. Our partner, Swedish insurance company Länsförsäkringar, is developing a charging cabinet specifically designed for lithium batteries in collaboration with MAUS and Optimel AB, which built the cabinet. At MAUS, we continuously strive to improve our products and partnerships to enhance fire safety. Together with Länsförsäkringar Uppsala, we recently tested the integration of our fire suppression technology into lithium battery charging cabinets. As the use of lithium batteries grows in industries such as agriculture and manufacturing, the demand for safe and fire-protected charging solutions becomes increasingly critical. The test was conducted at Stockholm Training Port in Värtahamnen, where we simulated real-world fire scenarios. This collaboration allows us to refine our solutions, ensuring safer workplaces and farms when charging lithium-powered equipment. This initiative is part of our ongoing commitment to innovation and safety, making fire suppression technology accessible in areas where it was previously unfeasible due to space constraints or high costs. Known for its cutting-edge mining practices, Sentinel is a critical contributor to Zambia’s economy and plays a major role in the global supply of copper. In a landmark move, the Mines Safety Department in Zambia has mandated the installation of MAUS fire suppression technology at all mining sites across the country. This decision highlights the importance of proactive fire safety measures in mitigating risks associated with mining operations, including: The use of heavy-duty machinery, extensive electrical systems and flammable materials stored and used on-site. At Kalumbila, MAUS products, such as the #StixxPRO series, have been deployed to ensure maximum fire protection.
