Om oss

In 1960, Åke Nordin founded Fjällräven in the Swedish town of Örnsköldsvik. Since then, Fjällräven has made a commitment to high quality and high-end design, while staying true to our mission of developing timeless, functional and durable outdoor equipment, acting responsible towards people, animals and nature and inspiring people to get outside. We want to inspire and enable more people to experience nature. We do this by developing clothing and equipment that make the outside safer, warmer, dryer and generally more enjoyable. And by running events that provide the framework and support to make nature more accessible. We’re a team of nature lovers, some more experienced than others, that likes to spend as much time outdoors as possible. In our offices and our stores we are designers, product developers, buyers, administrators, marketers, communicators, sales staff, customer service reps and business developers. In nature though, we’re all the same. Do you want to help us to inspire and enable more people to walk with nature? We're always interested in people who want to join our trek. • Our work to remove PFAS from our supply chains started back in 2009, long before recent legislation forced other brands to follow suit. We said no to these chemicals back then because it seemed the right thing to do. As a result were unable to work with some market-leading fabric suppliers and instead invested in developing our own versions. While from a business perspective it was a tough decision, from an environmental perspective, it was an easy one. #Fjallraven

  • 'Come on, you're almost there,' you mutter under your breath. 'Don't give up now.' But the fact of the matter is you're hot and sweaty. Your back is strained and knees are protesting the repetitive movements of - no, not reaching the ascent of a trek - but trying on another (another!) pair of trousers.    Once you get them on and buttoned up, you wipe the sweat from your brow as you check the trousers out in the mirror of the cramped, poorly lit fitting room. Sigh. As suspected, the fit isn't anything like you'd hoped. Sure, there are a dozen other styles you could try, but do you really want to go through all that effort again?    If this scenario hits home, it's because it's the same experience plenty of women have trying on outdoor trousers. Quite simply, many 'women's' outdoor trousers are essentially men's designs with slightly different sizing. They haven't been designed to suit your unique needs.    Fjällräven garment designer Sandra Söderin believes asking the right questions, such as 'What activity are these for?' and "How do I want to feel in these trousers?', is fundamental to being comfortable in nature.     If you’ve got any questions about choosing outdoor trousers, how trekking trousers should fit, or what it’s like working as a garment designer, head to our Instagram to send in a question to Sandra - she’ll be answering them in the next few weeks. https://lnkd.in/dKPBtE2t #Fjallraven

  • For the sixth year in a row, consumers in Sweden perceive Fjällräven as the country’s most sustainable brand in the category ‘Clothes and Fashion Brands’ in the 2025 Sustainable Brand Index.

This is welcome recognition for us at Fjällräven of the importance we place on sustainability in our day-to-day work. As our Chief Sustainability Officer, Aiko Bode, says: “It certainly seems that Swedish consumers appreciate the sustainability efforts of the brands they buy, and we welcome the pressure they put on our industry to continuously improve in this respect. Even without this public scrutiny we would be engaging with science to develop new ways to lower our impact. Take our work to remove PFAS from our supply chains which started back in 2009, long before recent legislation has forced other brands to follow suit. We said no to these chemicals back then because it seemed the right thing to do. It’s encouraging to see Swedish consumers value this commitment”.

So, keep pushing us and the outdoor industry as a whole to do better so that future generations have the same opportunities to experience nature the way we do.

  • Summer of 2024 was the 4th successful breeding season in a row for the Swedish population of Lesser White-fronted Geese (LWfG). During the last four years at least 100 young LWfG were fledged in the Swedish mountains. That may not sound like many, but compared to 31 the four previous years it’s a big upswing. In our last update on the LWfG (from Projekt Fjällgås that we support) we tracked the birds from their breeding area in the Swedish Arctic down to their wintering area in Western Europe. Any day now (beginning of March), the spring migration will start and the geese will fly from the Netherlands and Germany via Denmark to Sweden. The first LWfG usually appear in Lundåkrabukten, Skåne in the second half of March. From there they follow the weather and fly north through Sweden. A cold spell often makes them linger at a site a while longer. Finally, they end up in Ammarnäs, Västerbotten at the pre-breeding site around mid-May. Here the flock will gather and feed to maintain their good body condition until the breeding areas are free of snow and the breeding can begin. Thank you to everyone involved in Projekt Fjällgås, from the conservationists leading the program to the volunteer spotters along the flyway. Thanks to you, these endangered birds have a more promising future. #Fjallraven #Jagareforbundet

  • Despite being called ‘the wild’ and despite the fact you may need to dig a hole to go to the bathroom, the backcountry is actually quite a civilised place. In fact, most experienced trekkers strongly adhere to a set of guiding principles, commonly referred to as trail ethics in order to preserve the environment and ensure an enjoyable experience for all nature lovers. How well do you know the do’s and don’ts of the trail? Check out Instagram stories to take our quiz or read our guide on the Foxtrail blog: https://lnkd.in/g4YHAzqb #SeeYouOutHere #FjallravenClassic2025

  • In honour of International Women’s Day 2025, we’d like to highlight a few organisations we’re aware of that focus on empowering women in the outdoors. Whether it’s creating a safe environment for first-time hikers to ask questions, or a platform for experienced female explorers to share knowledge and build community, these groups all share the mission of encouraging more women to get out into nature.      We’re sure these are just the tip of the iceberg, so if you know of any groups or organisations that would be of interest to fellow female outdoor enthusiasts then please comment below.      We’d also like to know what you think we at Fjällräven can do as a brand to better-serve the needs of women in the outdoors. It could be feedback on a product you’ve tried, or want to try that we don’t sell perhaps, or it could be an event you wish we’d run. Just let us know below.     In the meantime, check out some images from recent Fjällräven Classic trekking events we’ve organised, where the participation rate has been around 45% women.      See you out here.      @pink_friluftsframjandet    @systraribergen    @thefemaleexplorer    @munichmountaingirls    @womenwhoexplore    @theadventuregirlsclub    @loveherwilduk    @womenwho_walk #SeeYouOutHere #InternationalWomensDay

  • For many Swedes, the humble Kånken backpack holds a special place in their hearts. Since it launched in 1978, it has adorned the shoulders of school children up and down the land who carried it beyond childhood and out into the world at large. It’s seen many interpretations on it’s iconic boxy form over the years with experiments on sizes, materials, colours and patterns, and yet somehow has always remained recognisably Kånken.

Here, our resident archivist and story collector, Harald, uncovers a rare limited edition from 1995.     Have you got a Kånken with a unique story to tell? Let us know in the comments. https://lnkd.in/dT_sayKe #Fjallraven

  • Ahead of a recent two-week journey to South America combining business meetings with a 72km trek through Patagonia as part of the first Fjällräven Classic Chile, Fjällräven CEO, Martin, posted the following message which we’d like to share here:    Before departing from Stockholm, I packed my essentials into the FÄRDEN Carry-On Bag, filled the FÄRDEN Roller 75 with business and training gear, and prepared the FÄRDEN Roller 120 with all the equipment needed for the trek. These bags, made from sturdy recycled polyamide, are built to last. Each features heavy-duty, lockable zippers, numerous pockets, and built-in dividers to keep everything organized—perfect companions for both business and adventure.     As many of you travel frequently and have experience with great travel gear, I’d love to hear your thoughts. What are the key features and details you value most in a travel bag for business and adventure?    If you have time - Your insights would be invaluable!    Discover the full Färden travel range here: https://lnkd.in/dUHrPhZ6 #SeeYouOutHere #FjallravenClassic2025
