It was our pleasure collaborating with Stockholm AI and hosting so many fantastic ML practitioners and enthusiasts. Grateful for the brilliant minds who joined and we're already looking forward to the next one! 🙌
"Ski-bi dibby dib yo da dub dub yo da dub dub..." Could we realistically reproduce John Scatman's famous hit song using diffusion models? Last night we had an amazing event hosted by Epidemic Sound at their lovely offices in Södermalm. We had a stellar presentation by a very knowledgable (and a very funny) Emmanouil Theofanis Chourdakis on how to finetune diffusion models across images and sound - and key challenges when applying diffusion across audio. After the presentation we had a fireside chat with Emmanouil, Armin Catovic of Aloi and Armin's good friend Maya (an uncanny-valley Sesame AI Model). Some takeaways: * Audio is BIG - even in non-audiophile setting (basic stereo), it is BIG, and has long time dependencies which makes training challanging! * Evaluating audio is a lot more nuanced and difficult than images - you have to listen through the whole track to make final conclusions, and it's very tricky to score "quality" and "perception" of audio. * Describing audio via text is HARD! Finally, we'd like to leave you with this little philosophical tidbit: even if we get audio generation "right", there is an element of craft and timing that goes into composing and mixing a track - if we think of Nirvana's Nevermind album, there is a back story to how those tracks were mixed together, and releasing the album 2 years early (or late) would not have the same impact - there is a latent time element that is difficult to model - perhaps the "soul" of music... Thank you to all who attended, and thank you to Epidemic Sound for hosting us, and a BIG thank you to all our community volunteers who helped out! The origin story behind Epidemic Sound. 🎶 A couple of weeks ago, our Co-Founder and CEO Oscar Höglund spoke at TECHARENA, Scandinavia’s biggest annual tech and business event. In a fireside chat with with Per Elinder Liljas, reporter at SvD, he discussed How Epidemic Sound Became a World Leader in Music. In the chat, Oscar explains that in 2009 when the company was founded, he and the other co-founders identified two main problems: 📽️ Adding music to content was very complicated since it involved many different parties, limitations, payment streams, and intermediaries. 🎤 It was difficult for artists and musicians to make a living through music. Fast forward to today, Epidemic Sound has built a mutually beneficial ecosystem where content creators are able to elevate their content with world-class music, while helping artists reach billions of fans and make a living in music. Curious to learn more about how we’ve created a new way for artist to succeed in music? Read here. 👉https://lnkd.in/db8SPDMY
