Today, Kiggudde Deogratius, PMP®, and I had the opportunity to meet and engage in a meaningful discussion with Khondaker A. Mamun, PhD, Co-founder of CMED Health in Bangladesh, whom I first met during the recent AI Summit on Africa held in Kigali. We had an insightful conversation and an engaging presentation session. Prof. Mamun shared some of the remarkable projects and research he is leading, while Kiggudde Deogratius, PMP®, Program Manager of The Upanzi Network at CMU-Africa , presented the impactful work we are doing through The Upanzi Network at CMU-Africa . One of the key takeaways from Prof. Mamun was his powerful reminder that we are all entrepreneurs — even when working within organizations. It was also exciting to discover strong synergies between the health-focused initiatives of CMED Health and those of The Upanzi Network at CMU-Africa. This marks the beginning of what we hope will be a long-term collaboration to improve the well-being of communities around the world. Let’s stay connected and keep building together! Prof. Mamun also posed a thought-provoking question: “What is the role of academia?” His response was both clear and inspiring — to be creators, inventors, and changemakers. You can read more of his perspective in this insightful article: What should the role of professors be in Bangladesh 2.0? https://lnkd.in/eiwFK6iq With his rich background and visionary thinking, I truly hope to meet him again and continue learning from his experience and insights. #CMUAfrica #UpanziNetwork #Health #CMEDHealth #AI #Innovator #Incubator #AUCA

🌟 I’m excited to join the #AfricaDataLeadershipInitiative as part of the latest cohort of policymakers and changemakers working to advance trusted, locally driven data governance in Africa. I’ll be participating on behalf of The Upanzi Network at CMU-Africa, working alongside participants from Ethiopia, Ghana, Rwanda, and Somalia. #ADLI is a community of practice that unites African policymakers and tech experts to address local and regional data challenges. Through expert-led policy dialogues, mentorship, and cross-government collaboration, we'll explore critical topics like data value creation, privacy, and trusted data systems. With recent developments in regional data governance and digital collaboration across the continent, this is an opportune moment for collaboration to move from policy frameworks to implementation and iteration.
