About us

MTN Rwanda began its operations in 1998, starting out as an exclusive GSM network providing voice and SMS services. The portfolio has exponentially grown to include mobile and fixed data, Mobile Money services, Enterprise solutions and other Value Added Services. We believe everyone deserves the benefits of a modern connected life. We are committed to leading the delivery of a bold new digital world and through this, make our customers' lives a whole lot BRIGHTER. We do this by delivering relevant, accessible, high quality telecommunications solutions that put them in control. MTN has over 6.9 million subscribers with a footprint that is covered by 4G, 3G and 2G networks as well as an extensive Fiber network. The company continues to invest heavily in infrastructure to expand its coverage and capacity across the country . MTN also acknowledges its responsibility towards its stakeholders to sustain long-term mutual value. In this regard, the company has established relationships with governments and community groups for partnerships that are geared towards improving the quality of service it offers to Rwandans through its Corporate Social Responsibility programme, MTN Foundation. MTN Rwanda has continued to grow from being a generic telecommunication company known for basic telephony to a digital lifestyle-enabling, one-stop solutions shop that supports consumers through every moment and every stage of their life.

    Branding & Communications

When Youth Culture Meets Creative Strategy 👏🏽📱 Let me just say it, MTN Rwanda’s Gwamon' campaign is easily one of the best creative rollouts I have seen in a while. And not just for the visuals or the vibe, but because of how it taps straight into youth culture. If you are in Rwanda and you are young (or just in tune), then you already know: "Gwamo" is not just a word. It is a whole language on its own. It’s the kind of slang that shifts depending on who’s using it and how. 📍 You can tell your boy "ndi home, gwamo" — which means pull up. 📲 You drop your boy’s crush IG in the group chat like "gwamo bro" — meaning slide in the DMs. 📄 You send a friend a job post like "bro, hano wagwamo" — as in you’d fit, apply already. 🚀 Someone shares an opportunity and you hit them with "takaramo, gwamo." It is real, it is current, and it is exactly how people talk. So when MTN flipped it to Gwamon', it just made sense. 🔥 They did not force a concept. They picked a slang that already lives in the streets, the chats, the everyday convos, and they made it theirs. That is smart branding. 🟡 The Gwamon' logo? Bold, minimal, and clean. The yellow hits, the curves are playful, and it just works on anything — from TVCs to memes to UGC. You can literally picture it as a sticker on someone’s phone case. 🎶 Instead of giving us a corporate jingle, they gave us a banger. Kivumbi King and Bwiza delivered a real track with a beat built for reels, dance challenges, and actual streaming. That "Ngwemon' cyangwa ntakaremo..." chorus? You hear it once and it’s stuck in your head. And it pushes the product without sounding like an ad. That’s intentional. That’s clever. 📺 Then came the TVCs. And they did not miss. The ads with Papa Sava? Hilarious 😂 but also strategic. Each one plays off the many meanings of "gwamo" — from Monday morning chaos to studio bars to trending content like Ashton Hall’s viral routines. They could have just shot a regular promo. But instead, they gave us entertainment, humor, and crazy relevance. They even stayed agile by jumping on TikTok trends at the right time. That is not just creative. That is plugged-in marketing. They did not just promote a data package. They created a movement 🌀 backed it with storytelling, plugged into youth culture, and made sure every part of it, from the music to the memes felt authentic. So kudos to MTN Rwanda, the marketers, creatives, agencies and everyone behind the strategy and execution 🙌🏽 Y’all didn’t just market a product. You gave us something to vibe with. #Gwamon #Marketing #Branding #CreativeStrategy #MTNRwanda #YouthCulture #CreativeCampaigns #Design #AdvertisingThatConnects
