One more innovative step towards a sustainable future! 🌱 We are proud to announce that we have joined the #InsiGlue project - an initiative that aims to develop a bio-based, formaldehyde-free adhesive system for the production of MDF. This collaboration with Fraunhofer WKI reinforces our commitment to reducing the emissions associated with MDF and promoting greener practices. ♻️ Paulo Magalhães, R&D Manager at #SonaeArauco, emphasises the importance of this project, since “finding alternatives to formaldehyde resins, particularly bio-based options, will help to meet existing and upcoming regulations as well as the growing demand for environmentally friendly products, promoting the use of renewable resources and reducing dependence on fossil-based chemicals”. This project complements other strategic initiatives by Sonae Arauco, such as the installation of the world's first fibreboard recycling line, scheduled for the second quarter of 2025 in Mangualde. 🚀

Yesterday, we celebrated commitment, innovation, and excellence at Sonae Arauco's Improvement Awards ceremony. 🚀🏆 This year's edition was marked by changes, with new categories aligned with the strategic pillars, highlighting projects that reflect our dedication in the areas of People & Culture, Value-Based Innovation, Partner for Value, Operational Excellence, and Caring for the Planet. In the end, our CEO, Rui Correia, emphasised the importance of this project and of #cooperation and #teamwork to achieve new goals. Siphelele Simon Gumbi is one of the many examples of dedication and growth at #SonaeArauco! In 2012, joined the White River factory as a Press Process Controller, coming from a completely different area. But with internal support, he went further: obtained qualifications in Operations Management and, in 2022, finished management apprenticeship programmes and reached the position of Trainee Shift Manager. 🚀 He is an example of personal and professional development, as well as commitment to the company, in a journey that has spanned 12 years and makes this his home away from home. It's thanks to people like Siphelele that we continue to innovate and improve every day, #TakingWoodFurther. 💪

#MeetTheTeam behind our forest management   On this International Day of Forests, we celebrate the dedicated team at #SonaeArauco that works every day to manage and protect our forest areas: Ricardo Marinho, André Mendes Nunes, Estela Almeida, Nuno Calado, Manuel Rainha and Tiago Correia. Their mission is to promote sustainable forest management practices and contribute to the productivity of the national forest.   Through our Forestry Research and Development (R&D) project or other joint initiatives such as the #SonaeForest, we aim to enhance this natural resource, while creating the conditions for a more sustainable and profitable sector, always protecting wood.   Every day, we are taking wood, people and planet further. 🌱

Back to the Future with #Impulse2025! Impulse is more than just an event – it’s a true meeting point for inspiration, innovation, and creativity! Organised by Sonae Arauco, it brings together clients and key partners each year to explore major lifestyle and interior design trends. This year, we embarked on a time-travel journey to discover how the past shapes the future of kitchen and furniture design. In Barcelona, Madrid, and Marienfeld, we created an open space for idea exchange, where tradition and innovation merged into new approaches for future developments.💡 It allowed us to strengthen relationships and create solutions in line with market needs. The large format panels and pieces of furniture on display offered a tangible understanding of their applications, reinforcing the partnership with MARTINEZ OTERO CONTRACT and accessories from Häfele. Thanks to everyone who made this edition a success! 🚀

#SonaeArauco is part of the European Cir4Fun project. This initiative aims to improve sustainability in the furniture sector by implementing the Digital Product Passport (DPP). 🌱 The purpose of the DPP is to store key information about a product's lifecycle, from its materials and production processes to its recyclability and environmental impact. This is a project funded by the Horizon Europe programme and reinforces our commitment to promoting eco-labelling, consumer engagement and environmental compliance. ♻️ For Paulo Magalhães, R&D Manager at Sonae Arauco, "the Cir4Fun project is very important for Sonae Arauco, as it will help to understand and define the main requirements and guidelines of the Digital Product Passport for the furniture sector".
