About us
Tayaba is a social enterprise, on a mission to tackle Pakistan's water and sanitation crisis. The country's vulnerability to climatic disasters has left thousands needing emergency water and sanitation support. Shockingly, over 21.7 million people lack access to clean water and sanitation due to inadequate infrastructure, disproportionately affecting women and causing 70% of households to consume contaminated water and engage in unsafe sanitation practices. Driven by social innovation, Tayaba's H2O (Help-2-Others) solutions aim to improve water access, sanitation, and economic opportunities for impoverished communities in Pakistan using blockchain technology for transparent and efficient resource distribution. Each H2O solution is designed for lasting impact. From the revolutionary H2O Wheels, easing the transportation of up to 40 liters of water with reduced physical strain, to the innovative H2O Solar Water Facility, utilizing natural resources to provide clean water, and the thoughtful H2O Hygiene Kit, promoting dignity and good hygiene with reusable sanitary pads and recycled handwashing soaps. Tayaba has already impacted over half a million lives by providing life-saving water and sanitation resources. Its vision is to create a sustainable future where clean water and sanitation become basic rights accessible to all!

It aims to inspire young changemakers from across South Asia to develop innovative solutions that tackle the urgent issue of plastic pollution in rivers and seas. After a rigorous evaluation and a two-week-long virtual hackathon, Tayaba’s #H2OPads initiative has secured a spot among the top 23 teams, with only 2 other teams from #Pakistan making it to the finals in Sri Lanka this week! Our H2O Stars, Saboor Ahmed Khuwaja and Yumna Waseem, are all set to pitch Tayaba’s plastic-free, reusable H2O Pads, alongside other incredible initiatives from across South Asia, striving to create meaningful impact for a cleaner, plastic-free future. Wrapping up 2024 with an exciting milestone in our mission to tackle Pakistan’s water crisis! Not only did we get an offer on Shark Tank Pakistan (Green Entertainment), but we were also honored as an “inspirational story/pitch.” Five years ago, I left the UK and a promising career to return home with a mission to solve Pakistan’s #watercrisis. Many well-wishers urged me to stay abroad, but I felt my purpose was here. Little did I know that I was walking into a pandemic (COVID-19) and THE biggest personal loss of my life. Looking back, a quote shared by my colleague and friend Bilal Bin Saqib MBE resonates deeply: "#Greatness doesn’t come from intelligence; it comes from #character. Character is not formed by smart people but by those who have #suffered." It was those 'sufferings' that gave my Junoon (passion) its character, conviction, and ikigai (life purpose). They taught me that problem-solving isn’t linear but requires perseverance. With that resilience, our small but passionate #H2OTeam reached over half a million water-deprived lives across Pakistan – from the mountains in the north to the deserts in the south. I am grateful for the cleansing and clarity my challenges brought, the mentors who believed in me & Tayaba.org when we had little to show, and our supporters who kept us going. The road ahead is far from easy, however, as we march forward into 2025, our tenacity and drive to tackle water scarcity have only grown stronger.
