A transformational opportunity When former OFW and skilled worker Conceso went back to the Philippines, he yearned for a more meaningful career that will allow him to gain new skills and serve less privileged communities. Through the Panday Buhay project, Conceso learned about electrical installation and maintenance, secured a national certification, and established a workers’ association with his fellow trainees. But for him, the best part of his journey was using his skills to help Typhoon Odette-affected families in Talisay City, Cebu. “I was truly happy to help the families rebuild their homes. It was a fulfilling, heartwarming, and priceless experience,” shared Conceso. Breaking stereotypes and barriers. A woman of perseverance and resilience, 60-year-old former Panday Buhay trainee Marilyn proves that women can flourish in any industry with the right training and opportunity. Through the Panday Buhay project, Marilyn took up the electrical installation and maintenance trade program mainly for practical reasons – to learn how to fix electrical issues at home. But her determination led her to find a more stable source of income as an electrician. “When you’re well-trained and have the right knowledge, you can be independent,” said Marilyn, echoing her belief that women can take space even in male-dominated industries. #ICYMI: On November 19, we handed over a two-story digital classroom and e-library to Sta. Teresita Elementary School in Santo Tomas, Batangas. The 126 sqm facility was built with the support of Cargill Philippines and C-Joy. "This initiative will benefit not only our students but also future generations of learners.
