The Ok Tedi Mine is an open-pit copper and gold mine located in the Star Mountains of the North Fly District of the Western Province of Papua New Guinea. Ok Tedi produces copper and gold from its Mt Fubilan mining and mill operations. Concentrate is sent by pipeline to its port operations in Kiunga from where it is shipped by barge to Port Moresby Harbour where it is transferred to ocean going vessels and dispatched to smelting markets in Germany, India, Japan, Korea and The Philippines. Ok Tedi Mining Ltd is proud to be 100% PNG owned, with 67% shareholding by the Government of Papua New Guinea while the people of Western Province hold the remaining 33% interest. The company's registered office is located in Tabubil, Western Province, PNG. It also has a representative office in Port Moresby, PNG and a marketing and logistics facility in Brisbane, Australia. Ok Tedi Mining Limited’s (OTML) Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Kedi Ilimbit, has congratulated The North Fly District Development Authority (NFDDA) and the PNG Sustainable Development Program (SDP) on the successful opening of the new Kiunga Airport Terminal. Mr Ilimbit made the comments following the opening of the terminal and Groundbreaking Ceremony of the Kiunga Airport Upgrade Project on March 31st. Our MD/CEO Kedi Ilimbit is encouraging our Business Partners, Trust and Royalty associations to invest back into OTML operations for the benefit of the people of Western Province, especially the impacted regions under the Mine Village communities and the Community Mine Continuation Agreement (CMCA) communities. He made this appeal during the opening of the new 150-self-contained accommodation units for our Bige Operations. This 150-persons donga is co-owned by the LMP79 Trust (25%), the Alice River Trust (25%) and the CMCA Women and Children’s Trust (50%) at a total investment value of K10,563,380 for a 9-year period. The units named ‘The Ilimbit Dongas’ cost OTML a total of K11.2 Million in its construction, installation and structural improvements. Through this investment, OTML is offering a passive investment opportunity to the impacted communities with a guaranteed return of K23,503,964 after 9 years. OTML Bige operations will cover all maintenance costs for the 9-year contract period. #otml #investment #sustainability #westernprovince
