  • Our annual Parliament function took place last night which is an opportunity to thank those in Wellington for the support they provide our industry. We had around 300 people attend including Prime Minister Christopher Luxon and Minister of Agriculture and Minister for Trade Todd McClay, Ministers and MPs from across Parliament and officials from a number of government departments, as well as other key stakeholders. Our CEO Jason Te Brake highlighted the bright outlook for our industry and opportunity to drive export value for New Zealand, as well as the important role government plays in enabling industries like ours to do so. Thanks to everyone who joined us 🥝

  • We’ve completed our first biofuel kiwifruit charter with Fresh Carriers Co., Ltd (FCC)! The vessel Kowhai has successfully arrived in Shanghai, marking the start of the season in Greater China. With biofuel not available in New Zealand, the Kowhai bunkered biofuel in Hong Kong, then sailed to Tauranga to load Zespri SunGold and Zespri RubyRed Kiwifruit, before heading to Shanghai powered by biofuel made from used cooking oil. It's an exciting step to take Zespri Kiwifruit to market for the first time on a biofuel charter in partnership with FCC and supported by PFS Cold Chain Logistics Co Ltd (PFS) and VX Cold Chain Logistics in China. Shipping has the largest carbon impact on our supply chain and with fruit being delivered to more than 50 markets around the world each year, we’re focusing on efficiency measures and collaborating with partners like FCC to test low-emissions solutions. It's all part of understanding what we need to do on the ground so we can scale this in the future as low-emissions fuels become a viable option for New Zealand shipping. • Our much anticipated Zespri RubyRed™ Kiwifruit is now available in stores throughout New Zealand! The fruit has a unique berry sweet taste and is available nationwide in the fresh produce section at major supermarkets and fresh fruit retailers from now until June.    Zespri RubyRed™ Kiwifruit  are naturally smaller in size but packed full of goodness – it contains a number of antioxidants, including Vitamin C and anthocyanins which are naturally occurring pigments within the fruit giving the fruit its red colour. Be sure to get in quick as they won’t be around for long! The full media release can be read here: https://lnkd.in/g5yBKYgB

  • We’ve released our first guidance to growers for the 2025/26 season outlining strong OGR per tray and per hectare ranges. Early season conditions have been positive supporting a strong start to this season’s harvest with a total crop of more than 205 million trays, or 738,000 tonnes, now expected. Our industry has packed more fruit at this time of the season than ever before and our first charter vessels have departed successfully, which is important as we look to get off to a fast start and return strong value back to our growers.
