In the last few weeks, I have experienced the true power of a beverage, and in this case, it was a wine. This is what happened: I was at the beach with some friends, we were all sitting around scrolling on our phones with one eye on the kids. Someone had the idea to go and get a chilled bottle of wine and a few plastic cups that they had in a cooler in the car. The wine opened and next thing you know six people were sitting together chatting, discussing the wine and saying “how good is the beach”. Along with solving the problems of the world. It took me a few days to realise that it was the beverage, in this case a wine, that had the power to stop people doing what they are doing and come together for a chat. I then had a think and realised it is probably any beverage that can bring people together. Think coffee, tea, kava, beer and of course wine. Tasting and blending wine is probably one of the most important parts of making a wine. Apart from the grapes!!! Sometimes what you leave out is more important than what you put in. Starting with high quality organic grapes is a good start, then guiding them through to the finished product. A few tweeks with blending to get the taste and style we are after. How to know if your wine is organic? Don’t just look for the word organic, make sure to search out the certification. Usually a logo from a recognised organisation.
