What an amazing day yesterday! Such a great atmosphere down Wynyard Quarter. SailGP has done an amazing job at making the sport so accessible. Even if you aren’t into sailing, or you are but aren’t going into the stands, it is worth heading down. Thanks to Sarah Munnik and Tim from pead and Ellie Brade from Cleanery for joining Lindsay Faithfull / Naut in the stands. Stoked to have a surprise fourth race bringing NZ back up the leader board. Another great weekend at the Whangarei Maritime Festival. Thanks to all that came down and asked so many questions, were excited about what we are doing, and more excited that it’s been done right here in Whangarei, NZ. There were a few questions that we got asked multiple times so we’ll run a q&a series on here over the next few weeks covering these off. We’ll start today with a question that was being answered right at the time this photo was taken - it’s the first and only time we’ve been asked this. Q: how close do the batteries have to be to the outboard? A: the reason for the question is due to energy losses that occur when electricity is transmitted down a cable. In a boat the distance is so small that these losses are inconsequential. Therefore the placement of the batteries is selected to get the best stability for the boat. Photo credit: Jay's Photography
