New Zealand's specialists in Voluntary Administration

About us

BWA Insolvency was founded in 2002 to provide structure and direction to the insolvency activity conducted by Bryan Williams since the share market crash of 1987. Bryan remains the principal to this day and continues to give life to the idea that business is risky and if trouble surfaces, complete failure does not have to be the result. Armed with his experience as a businessman, together with the academic qualifications of a Masters of Business Administration and a Masters of Commercial Law, Bryan has grown the insolvency practice throughout New Zealand. Trust and confidence has been built by working closely with referring accountants and lawyers from around the country. They are confident their clients will benefit from engaging Bryan when the need the for the highest level of insolvency service is required. BWA are experts in business recovery. We know insolvency law and how business works. Perhaps we can’t rescue every business but we certainly know what should be done if the potential for rehabilitation exists. Our focus is given life through the Voluntary Administration regime; the legal model adopted by Parliament to preserve the existence of business wherever it is possible to do so.   In addition, BWA applies the vitally important human elements of business acumen and a passion to correct what can be corrected or fix what can be fixed. Our practice is small and acts only on insolvency matters. We are sharp and incisive when we bring real and practical solutions to complex problems surfacing from the congestion of insolvency. At the same time, we are human and balanced. We appreciate that insolvency intersects with almost all walks of life and often impacts harshly on those affected by it. The first principle of business is the creation of wealth, but business life does not always unfold as planned. When matters are heading in the wrong direction you need BWA to assist by providing the clarity and direction that will work to minimise the harm.

The surprise of the Global Financial Crisis plunged economies into the darkness and despair of a world needing to restructure itself. The current economic circumstances are impacting business in the same way but with the distinguishable difference that the cause and effect are predictable. With the Government forcing demand downwards, the result is a liquidity crisis that has the potential to destroy the viability of many companies. What is the best way of dealing with the challenges and how can the business owner restructure their affairs so that they can manage the situation and defeat liquidation? Check out my latest blog.
