🚀 MISSION ZERO 🌊 A Breakthrough for Modular Sustainable Wastewater Treament   Last week, we celebrated a historic milestone as we officially launched Norway’s first full-scale renasys modular wastewater treatment facility in Førde. #MissionZero, a collaboration between Renasys, Hellenes Industries, and Sunnfjord kommune Teknisk drift, proves that innovation, sustainability, and cost-efficiency can go hand in hand.   Mission Zero Slang 😊 All credit and thanks to Magne Reidar Førde coining the term and our guests definitely leaving with a #PæsjenForBæsjen (otherwise translates to #PooPassion).   💡 Why is this important? Norwegian municipalities face an urgent challenge: Necessary and stricter EU regulations, skyrocketing infrastructure costs, and almost overwhelming rising fees for residents. Mission Zero is proving there’s a better way: ✅ Zero discharge 🌱 ✅ 100% resource recovery 🔄 ✅ No unnecessary cost increases for municipalities 💰   💰 100 million NOK saved – already! Our newly implemented technology has already saved Sunnfjord Kommune 100 million NOK. Passion for bæsjen💩✨ I går var vi med på den offisielle opninga av Mission Zero, eit samarbeidsprosjekt mellom Sunnfjord kommune, renasys og Hellenes Bio AS. Dagen starta med ei spennande opningskonferanse før vi fekk vere med på avdukinga av Renasys sitt nye fullskala avløpsanlegg i Førde – ein viktig milepåle for framtidas vassreinsing. 💧 80 % av verdas avløpsvatn blir sleppt ut ureinsa i elvar og hav – ei stor miljøutfordring. Med dei nye EU-krava til avløpsreinsing står norske kommunar overfor ei varsla kostnadsbombe, der investeringar i nye anlegg kan gi mykje høgare kommunale avgifter for deg og meg i åra som kjem. Mission Zero er utvikla for å møte desse utfordringane med innovative, berekraftige og økonomisk smarte løysingar. Bak prosjektet står Førde-selskapa Renasys og HELLENES Industries, som har utvikla banebrytande teknologi for avløpsreinsing og ressursgjenvinning. Løysinga deira gir null utslepp, null avfall og null energiforbruk – og som dei sjølve seier: Det finst ikkje avløpsvatn, berre vatn. Teknologien har allereie fått internasjonal merksemd og er inkludert i Hillary Clinton sitt Clinton Global Initiative. Gjennom dagen fekk vi høyre inspirerande innlegg frå mellom andre Frederic Hauge (Bellona), Arne Haarr (Norsk Vann), Morten Andreas Meyer (Huseierne), Erling Sande (stortingsrepresentant og leiar for næringskomiteen) og Bård Sandal (Vestland fylkeskommune). Dei delte verdifulle perspektiv på innovasjon, grøn omstilling og det reviderte avløpsdirektivet. Fleire kommunar, inkludert Kinn kommune, GLOPPEN KOMMUNE, Stad kommune, Stryn kommune, Sogndal kommune og Indre Østfold kommune, er med i dette viktige prosjektet. Mission Zero handlar om meir enn berre reinsing av vatn - det er ei ny tilnærming til sirkulærøkonomi, der ressursar blir utnytta i staden for å gå til spille. Mange synes det er dritkjedelig å høre om vann & avløp, eksplosjonen i gebyrer, forfallet i ledningsnettet og EUs oppdaterte avløpsdirektiv. Men dere skal egentlig være glad for at noen av oss har pæsjen for bæsjen 😉 Rent vann i springen og forsvarlig håndtering av kloakken vår koster penger. Det må vi boligeiere betale for. Men i dag betaler vi mer enn nødvendig. Forskere ved NTNU har påvist et potensial for effektivisering i vann- og avløpssektoren på mellom 25 og 50 prosent. Manglende samarbeid mellom kommuner, liten innovasjonsevne og et finansieringssystem som premier ineffektivitet står i veien for at gebyrveksten kommer under kontroll. Det forsøker utviklingsprosjektet Mission Zero å gjøre noe med. Derfor dro vi i Huseierne til Førde for å lære mer. Mission Zero har som mål å oppfylle nye krav til rensing av avløpsvann både med tanke på bærekraft og nye strengere krav fra EU uten stor økning i de kommunale gebyrene. Ambisjonen -         er 100% gjenvinning -         eliminere alt utslipp av urenset avløpsvann -         gjenbruk av slam f.eks. som biokull eller til jordforbedring. Sentralt står ny teknologi for avløpsrensing og ressursgjenvinning fra selskapene renasys og HELLENES Jørgen Lorentz Jakob Sveen Renseanlegget til Sunnfjord kommune i Førde Sunnfjord kommune har vært testsenter for Renasys og Hellenes Industries. Kommunene Kinn, Stad, Stryn, Gloppen, Sogndal og Indre Østfold deltar også i utviklingsprosjektet. I Sunnfjord er det nå på plass et fullskala renseanlegg basert på ny filterteknologi. Det er en viktig milepæl. Sammen med mer enn 150 andre avløpsnerder var kollega Jan Erik Mardal, Rikke Åserud og jeg med på åpningen. Det jobbes nå også med å få på plass anlegget for tørking og pyrolyse av avløpsslammet i direkte tilknytning til renseanlegget. Vi i Huseierne heier på alle initiativ som kan øke effektiviteten, øke kvaliteten og gjøre VA-tjenesten rimeligere. The Mission Zero project, initiated by renasys, Hellenes Bio AS, and Sunnfjord kommune, has developed a technology that purifies sewage sludge into clean water at a micro level. Through modular treatment plants tailored to the needs of each facility, wastewater sludge is filtered into clean water and pure biochar. The goal is zero emissions, full resource recovery, and 100% energy neutrality. With increasingly strict wastewater treatment regulations, as highlighted by Arne Haarr from Norsk Vann, the need for innovation is greater than ever. The technology now being implemented in Sunnfjord could be a game-changer for both municipalities and industries. Morten Andreas Meyer emphasized how crucial innovation is for solving future challenges, while Frederic Hauge reminded us that sustainability is not about words but actions. This was echoed by Erling Sande and Bård Sandal, who pointed to Vestland’s potential to take a leading role in the green transition. The official opening of the renasys facility is concrete proof that good intentions are being translated into action.
