This week I attended a combined CEO- and Annual meeting in Skift - Næringslivets klimaledere (Business Climate Leaders) 🌱 The theme of the meeting was “collaboration in more turbulent times.” We were visited by Minister of Trade and Industry Cecilie T. Myrseth and State Secretary in the Ministry of Climate and Environment Kristoffer Hansen, who both emphasized the importance of close cooperation between businesses and authorities to strengthen the transformation of the Norwegian economy 🏋🏼♂️🎯 The Skift network is calling for a national plan and launched a new project where we aim to find solutions to the key barriers hindering the required transformation 💡 Norwegian Hydrogen strongly support this work. We’ve officially made the investment decision to build a new green hydrogen production facility in Rjukan, Telemark, Norway.   Key highlights: 🏭 25 MW electrolysis capacity 📅 Planned completion by the end of 2027 ⚡ Potential for earlier production  📍 Supplying green hydrogen to southern Norway and parts of Sweden We’re committed to working closely with the local community, businesses, and authorities in Rjukan to ensure a successful and sustainable development. Jens Berge, CEO of Norwegian Hydrogen, commented: “We are very pleased to move forward with this exciting project. I was honored to be invited as a speaker and panelist in a Latvian-Norwegian hydrogen event in Riga last week 🏛️ 🌱 The event was organized by the Norwegian Embassy in Riga, Innovation Norway and Latvijas Investīciju un attīstības aģentūra - LIAA in connection with the launch of a new study carried out by Menon Economics 📖 The study provides valuable insights into how Norway’s hydrogen experience can support Latvia’s ambitions. At Norwegian Hydrogen we are already taking concrete steps to enable zero emissions and build the hydrogen economy, and it was a pleasure to share some our journey 🎒 Thanks to the organizers, fellow speakers and audience for an inspiring event! Eng. CEO of Française de l'Energie, Mathias Meidell IR Director from Hexagon Purus, and last but not least our moderator Thomas Dowling Næss 👍 At Norwegian Hydrogen we remain steadfast in our view that the new green hydrogen industry needs to be developed urgently but step-by-step 🪜 This is also why we and a very few other companies have already taken a step or two by establishing small scale production 💫 And we really enjoy the data collection 🔢 use cases 🧱 🪨 🏗️ 🚚 ⚓ and operational experience we gain every day. That is also why we're now keen to move on and get ready for the next steps with some of our 20-30 MW projects, and especially the one at Rjukan in Norway 🏔️ And do we need green hydrogen? Yes, in order to get to zero emissions where there's no grid or any effective battery solution, we need lots of green hydrogen in gaseous or liquid form, or as e-methanol, e-methane and green ammonia. Balancing Immediate Crises with Long-Term Energy Transition ⚖️ 🤷♂️ War rages, economies struggle, and geopolitical tensions escalate. These crises demand our full attention. But I worry that with all the chaos unfolding, focus on the climate crisis will slip away—and stay away—until global instability is under more control. That could take years. Years we simply don’t have! The climate crisis is in no way on hold ‼️ It is accelerating. Every day, many of us work to build the future of energy—because we like it, but also because we have to as a society 🌍 A resilient, sustainable energy system isn’t just an environmental goal; it’s the foundation of long-term economic and geopolitical stability. This isn’t about short-term fixes or cheaper energy (unfortunately)—it’s about ensuring we are no longer at the mercy of the very forces driving today’s crises. If we let the energy transition take a back seat now, we risk locking ourselves into even deeper instability for decades to come. The green transition isn’t a luxury—it’s a necessity. And we have no time for more delays 🏃➡️ I understand and acknowledge the urgency of today’s immediate threats. We live in a crazy world. But we cannot afford to lose sight of the solutions that simply must define our future 🌱 We must act now.
