Een blauw stadshart als systeem voor brede welvaart CoP Excursie Almere: Alle zeilen bij voor het Weerwater! Op 3 april kwamen we samen in Almere voor een inspirerende excursie van de Community of Practice ‘Landschap als Bron voor Brede Welvaart’. Centraal stond de vraag: hoe kan het Weerwater het blauwe hart van Almere méér betekenen dan recreatie? Kan het bijdragen aan energie, biodiversiteit, grondstoffen en brede welvaart voor álle inwoners? De middag begon in het Infocentrum Almere Centrum, waar David de Boer (Vereniging Deltametropool) de bredere ruimtelijke context van Almere schetste. Hij benadrukte de noodzaak van samenwerking binnen de metropoolregio en het belang van duurzame stedelijke verdichting. Daarna gaven Ivonne D. en Nina de Vos (Gemeente Almere) een toelichting op de Centrumvisie 2040. Hun presentaties benadrukten thema’s als inclusiviteit, vergroening en het versterken van culturele identiteit. Het Weerwater speelt hierin een sleutelrol, als verbindend element in een klimaatadaptieve en leefbare stad. Tijdens een fietstour rondom het Weerwater kregen we uitleg van o.a. Coen Wagner (Gemeente Almere) over de watertrap op de Esplanade, Boris Duijst (PRICE) over circulaire bouwmaterialen, en Arjo Hof (Gemeente Almere) over aquathermie. Op de Aeres Hogeschool sloot Miguel Dionisio Pires (Lector Gezond Oppervlaktewater) de dag af met een krachtige presentatie over systeemdenken en ecosysteemdiensten van het Weerwater. Hij liet zien hoe natuurlijke processen en stedelijke functies slim kunnen worden verbonden voor een duurzame toekomst. De excursie bracht nieuwe inzichten, waardevolle gesprekken en zette de eerste stappen richting een volgende fase voor het Weerwater – als kern van een blauwgroen en toekomstbestendig Almere. Last week, we concluded an inspiring Expert Roundtable Session as part of the Bauhaus of the Seas Sails, hosted by Vereniging Deltametropool, together with Grenspark Groot Saeftinghe, Nieuwe Instituut, Delft University of Technology (TU Delft History of Architecture and Urban Planning). This session explored the future of the #FlemishDutchDelta, focusing on climate transitions, societal dynamics, and cultural values. On this Saturday 8 June – World Ocean Day – Nieuwe Instituut invites you to the public kick off of the Delta pilot of the Bauhaus of the Seas Sails project. The Delta pilot will be implemented on two locations: Rotterdam and Grenspark Groot Saeftinghe. During the event at the Nieuwe Instituut, each of the pilot areas will share their current challenges, the status of their research and upcoming activities.
