⚡️Young Minds, Bold Ideas: A Day of Innovation for a Greener Future 🌍 What happens when 40 students, a sustainability-driven case study, and a whole lot of creative energy collide? You get an inspiring hackathon packed with game-changing ideas 💥 On March 27, we teamed up with JA Alumni Italy for a full-day sprint into the future of sustainable business in Rome. With The Invisible Company case study as a launchpad, students explored how entrepreneurship can be both innovative and planet-friendly. 🌱 Over the day, teams brainstormed, collaborated, and pitched bold ideas to a panel — judged on creativity, teamwork, structure, and presentation. At the event Valentina Müller guide the students on pitch storytelling, and Tom Bata challenged teams with real-world investor questions. ✨ Some of the brilliant ideas that came out: 🍄 Mikelio: Packaging from fungi 👟 ReShoes: Smart shoes that charge your phone while you walk 🍊 Dr. Orange: Body scrub made from orange peel waste 🚚 Fermi Creators: Uber-style truck pooling for smarter deliveries 🖋️ BioInk: Eco-ink for sustainable printing 🔄 Refilo: Supply chain optimization software for greener processes 👗 SmartWear: A platform for textile recycling and resale 🎉 Congrats to the winners and everyone who pitched with purpose! This week, #FriendsofBata joined the JA Czech Student Expo in Prague as part of the English pitch deck jury — and wow, were we blown away. 💥 🎤 40 student-led startups 👥 5-member teams ⏱️ 60 seconds to pitch 📣 One shot to make it count! From mental health toolkits and caffeine-replacing bubble gum, to 3D-printed recycling and smart hydration devices — these students weren’t just pitching ideas. They were solving real-world problems with energy, empathy, and entrepreneurial thinking. ♻ Rethink: Create. Pitch. Impact.  A Sustainable Hackathon for future innovators! 🌱 On March 27th, I had the pleasure of co-hosting Rethink, a sustainable Hackathon at CTE Roma - Casa delle Tecnologie Emergenti. This unique event challenged participants to design a sustainable product and explore the key challenges in developing it, using the case study of Invisible Company as inspiration. Organized by JA Alumni Italy in partnership with JA Alumni Europe and with the invaluable suppor of Friends Of Bata the Hackathon brought together brilliant young minds eager to rethink business models with innovation, sustainability, and entrepreneurship at the core. A huge thank you to JA Alumni Italy, in the name of our President Gabriele Buttà, for making this possible, and to Valentina Müller and Tom Bata for introducing us to the world of Friends Of Bata and Triple B. Your support and vision have been invaluable in bringing this initiative to life! We are also deeply grateful to Austė Šilkaitytė, on behalf of all JA Alumni Europe, for facilitating the organization and for co-hosting the Hackathon with us. 🌍 Bridging Borders, Sparking Innovation! A few months ago, Carmina Bech, MBA reached out with an exciting opportunity—bringing 11 bright students from California Lutheran University to Barcelona for an "experienceship". Their goal? To dive into the local entrepreneurial ecosystem and gain hands-on experience with a real founder challenge. 🚀 We designed a collaborative workshop where students could learn by doing while helping a startup innovate. And who better to inspire them than Julieta Rueff, founder of FlamAid and part of the FOB Community? She shared real-world challenges her company is facing, pushing students to step into her shoes as entrepreneurs and develop creative solutions. Adding to the experience, Anna M., the strategic mastermind behind FlaMaid’s internationalization, delivered an insightful session on scaling a brand globally. Students got to brainstorm, present ideas, and challenge their thinking in an interactive way. But it doesn’t end there! These students are now refining their ideas into structured proposals to help the FlamAid team tackle their challenges head-on.
