Meet the Team: Sheila 👋 Usually, we post about the companies we invest in, events we are going to or other insights around impact investing. We also want to show you the people that make up the SHIFT team! In this series, we'll introduce our colleagues to give a glimpse into their work at SHIFT. 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗹𝗮 🤝 Sheila Struyck has been part of our team since 2014 as Venture Partner. She uses her (corporate) venturing and governance experience in the F&A vertical and across the portfolio. 💚 Favorite Project: Meatless BV. One of the earliest investments of our fund. One of the longest ones in our portfolio. We have seen the market move from skeptical to open slower than we all believed and the entrepreneur - Jos Hugense - never gave up and led the organization to a successful acquisition by BENEO. I was part of the supervisory board in the last three years so could really see up close how nail-biting and strategic this was. 💪 Motivation: As Maya Angelou famously said: “Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, you do better.” Once I realized that we need serious system changes to create a healthy planet I could only combine my love for start- and scale-ups to those that actually are striving for a system change. I am proud to have co-founded one of the oldest Impact VCs in the Netherlands. 👁️ Personal Insight/something people might not know about Sheila: Since I have dedicated most of my time (publicly) to being a chef on a plant-based mission many people are unaware that I am an INSEAD certified Non-Executive Board member.
