The study–“Optimizing the frequency positioning of tunable couplers in a circuit QED processor to mitigate spectator effects on quantum operations” by Santiago Vallés Sanclemente– explores across multiple quantum operations how flux-tunable couplers can be configured to suppress spectator qubit effects, improving control and gate fidelity in multi-qubit systems. 🔬 The results were obtained on a QuantWare-built 5-qubit processor with tunable couplers, a prototype version of our 17-qubit Contralto-A QPU designed for quantum error correction (QEC). 📈 As QEC moves from concept to roadmap, tunable couplers are becoming a critical building block for scalable, fault-tolerant quantum systems. This paper validates key aspects of the systems being built to accelerate that journey. Barcelona Supercomputing Center is now home to Spain’s first publicly accessible quantum computer—and it’s powered by QuantWare’s 5-qubit Soprano QPU. Installed alongside MareNostrum, one of Europe’s most powerful supercomputers, this system marks a strategic milestone: a 100% European-built quantum computer, now available to researchers across Spain. With support from the Quantum Spain initiative, the system brings the potential of quantum computing into the hands of academic and scientific communities backed by open access, national collaboration, and a strong foundation in European technology. Over the past week, the quantum community showed up in Anaheim in full force, and so did QuantWare. 🔷 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗵 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗤𝗘𝗖 & 𝗦𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝘂𝗯 #ContraltoA and #VIO were front and centre. Our demos and deep dives on QEC and scaling technologies sparked lots of excitement around what we’re building. We also met many brilliant minds looking to join our team (yes, we’re hiring). 🤝 𝗕𝗶𝗴 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗤𝗣𝗨 𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗲-𝘂𝗽 & 𝗤𝗘𝗖 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 Together with QuantrolOx, we launched the Quantum EDGE Development Kit, a plug-and-play solution that automates QPU tune-up and accelerates QEC development on Contralto-A.
