We develop new metrology and diagnostic tools for the quantum industry.
Over ons
At Quantamap, we are developing cutting-edge tools for metrology and defect inspection for quantum chips and other quantum hardware. We concluded that one of the major road-blocks of quantum computing is that when chips do not work as well as they should (they often don't), there is no way to find out which component failed, and how to improve the production processes. Our novel microscope, based on SQUID-on-tip, will solve this and help enable the quantum revolution. We are a growing team of people motivated to solve hard problems that do not have solutions yet. We believe that our technology will have a major impact on the quantum industry, and will also have applications in different fields in science and emerging technology. We are committed to diversity and work to build an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive.

What a great conference! We had many great discussions with academic researchers, old and new collaborators and the other companies at the fair. It was truly inspiring and we leave LA with many new ideas and connections. Thanks American Physical Society for hosting, Quantum Delta NL for organizing the booth, and everyone for the lively atmosphere at the conference, fair and all the amazing side events (Quantum Machines , Qblox, Nord Quantique, Alice & Bob)!

We are very happy to announce to be selected for the #PurpleNECtar challenge! But that is not the main reason for this post: What I do want to highlight is that the way this challenge is organized could be a good model for technology development in the Netherlands more broadly. Why do I say this: 🏎️ Fast turnaround time: ~ 1 week between proposal submission and decision. Then another week to kick-off and another week to project start! 📑 Low reporting overhead: the project budget is provided from the Ministerie van Defensie purchasing department based on invoices. A first tranche is paid out at project start, and the second tranche only after successful delivery of the results of the first project phase. This means that I need to judge myself how much I think I can provide for a given budget, puts the risk to some extent on us the startup, prevents people from over-promising and we don’t need to maintain extra administration. 🛠️ Result based: qualification for the next phase is based on the results of the first phase. 🤝 Partner buy-in: The Materiel and IT Command really wants the projects to succeed and is prepared to help where possible. They also have an experienced technical team that is involved in the projects. 🚀 If scaled up, it could at least partially close the gap that we have to the US and China who work with much larger government contracts to get startups going. We discussed this with Techleap and Constantijn Van Oranje-Nassau, who is also very excited. Let's make this a success together!
#WijZijnCOMMIT #Defensie #IT #Quantum #Challenges #Innovatie #PurpleNECtar Fermioniq QuiX Quantum QuantaMap Qubitrium Deltares CUbIQ Technologies Capgemini TNO Technische Universiteit Eindhoven QuDef Xairos

It might sound a bit odd at first: What is QuantaMap, a startup developing diagnostic microscopes for quantum chips, doing at the Future of Health conference (https://lnkd.in/eVwrrfxG)? But the life sciences and #healthcare sector will be one of the many domains that will greatly benefit from the #quantum computing revolution. And that is what we are enabling. Join us tomorrow at Leiden Bio Science Park to learn more. And also check out the other amazing speakers: 🟠 Paul Vulto – MIMETAS 🟠 Willemijn Vader – VitroScan 🟠 Joris Castermans – Whispp 🟠 Daan Luining – Meatable 🟠 Andrea Evers – Leiden University 🟠 Koenraad Wiedhaup – Leyden Labs 🟠 Thomas Hankemeier – Leiden University 🟠 Violette Defourt – Rapidemic

It has been a pleasure to present QuantaMap's quantum chip metrology technology and to have an open discussion about opportunities and challenges as university spin-offs. And great to see that those are being addressed by influential players Techleap, Leiden University and Leiden Bio Science Park.

Leiden Bio Science Park (LBP) is a world class cluster of medical biotech companies and research facilities. Really impressive to see how it has grown to employ over 25000 people. I had the pleasure and honor to visit LBP with Leiden University Chair Annetje Ottow and meet a few outstanding companies to discuss with them and Anouschka Versleijen and Diederik Engbersen of the TTO and Holding respectively, the process of spinning out companies. Thx for an inspiring demo at MIMETAS a leading organ-on-a-chip/3D disease modeling company. We discussed how to raise funding for global expansion and the importance of a great supporting ecosystem in Leiden. A selection of amazing startups shared their founder journeys: VitroScan Drug response platform Onnes Technologies in cryogenic nanopositioning QuantaMap developing quantum sensors Secuped medical devices for diabetes AVIGI Therapeutics fighting metastatic cancer What they told us: - Universities overvalue the importance of IP, especially at the start, as more IP will be needed, and IP doesn’t drive the - Universities should focus on opportunities instead of risk mitigation + LBP is a excelent ecosystem to start and grow a bio/medtech business, with excellent shared facilities + PLNT Leiden, Unlock and the new TT policy of Leiden, based on standard deal terms have greatly reduced friction and has been generally very supportive of academic spin outs + Positive feedback about the Biotech Booster program so far, and it could finance POC’s rather than just de-risking technology. - More speed needed in contracting - Easier access to biostatistics needed - More support welcome in clinical trial management, go2market strategy, certification - There is sufficient early stage grant funding, but insufficient capital for seed rounds in biotech - Declaration on financial stability (‘geen financiele moeilijkheden’) required for many grants, is impossible tor provide for deeptech startups Thanks for sharing your stories with us Jos Joore Paul Vulto Henriette Lanz Nienke Wevers Lenie van den broek, Thomas Hankemeier Willemijn Vader Max Kouwenhoven Johannes Jobst Martijn van de Giessen Arjen S.
