The ICCA Business Workshop European Destination Marketing Sector wrapped up last week in the unforgettable setting of Iceland. A heartfelt thank you to our fantastic hosts, Meet in Reykjavik Iceland Convention Bureau, and especially to Guðrún Kristinsdóttir and Hildur Björg Bæringsdóttir, who went above and beyond to make this workshop a one-of-a-kind experience. From constructive business meetings and powerful connections to the first-ever “Partnering for Success” Forum, our participants explored risk and uncertainty, shared insights, and built long-lasting relationships. The group synergy was exceptional, and the immersive programme gave us a deep dive into Icelandic culture and the endless potential of Iceland as a congress destination. This week, ICCA hosted the "Association Readiness Lab: Navigating Disruption in Unpredictable Times" during Business Events Industry Week (#BEIW) in Washington DC. More than 40 participants engaged in lively discussions and interactive exercises, including: ✅ A powerful discussion of current events: how tariffs, travel restrictions, and global policy shifts are reshaping international events and operations ✅ Hands-on exercises using tools like Chaos Spectrum and MATCH to identify situation and category the response direction ✅ Reflections on what it means to lead in a “politics-first world" ✅ The practical use of AI in event management and association operations ✅ A strategic dialogue on the meaning of disruption ✅ The importance of authenticity, mentorship, purpose-driven work, and future-of-work readiness The dynamic session gave participants the tools to address the relevant, real-world issues facing the business events community today, providing practical insights and crucial tools that will be necessary for industry professionals going forward.
