🏭 One of the most energy-intensive steps in traditional ceramic tile manufacturing is spray drying, a method that transforms raw materials into granules suitable for pressing and firing. In short, it forms a dry powder from a liquid by rapidly drying it with a hot gas. Spray drying is a key step in the ceramic tile production process to ensure uniformity and consistency. While effective, this process relies heavily on natural gas and electricity. This is mainly spent on evaporating water and related CO₂ release. 📚 According to recent studies, spray drying accounts for about 30% of the total energy consumed and about 70% of the total water used in tile production.* Skip Tile is taking a different approach. ♻️ This tile eliminates the need for energy-intensive spray drying. Instead, it employs a low-energy dry granulation process to prepare raw materials. This innovation reduces energy consumption by 45%, significantly lowering the emissions typically associated with traditional methods. Skip Tile ranks among the lowest-emission (floor) tiles available. Produced by UK-based Alusid Ltd in their factory in Spain. ♻️ Skip Tile is also composed of at least 95% by-products sourced from multiple industries, ranging from ceramic production scraps to glass by-products, both pre- and post-fired. This approach reduces landfill waste and repurposes low-value materials into high-quality tiles. ➡️ For answers to all your questions and to order samples, please visit: https://lnkd.in/eH5kfrZU #FRONTMaterials #SkipTile #Alusid #SustainableDesign #HowItsMade #InteriorDesign * Source: journalssystem.com

💭 Working with innovative materials requires more than technical skills—it requires a bit of a mindset shift and a new construction approach. Take our Pretty Plastic Panels, for example. This facade cladding is made from 100% recycled PVC, designed to look good and do good. But they also challenge traditional methods of installation. 📽️ That's why this dedicated how-to video walks you through the smart process of installing a facade with these uniquely shaped, sustainable shingles. And it's simpler than you think, even with complex colour patterns. Innovation should never be a barrier to creativity. #FRONTMaterials #PrettyPlasticPanels #BuildingMaterials #SustainableMaterials #CircularEconomy #CircularDesign 💡Pretty Plastic 🎦Toine Peerenboom 🎨Laura Willemsen 📍National Swimming Centre De Tongelreep 📐Slangen + Koenis Architecten 🏗️Mertens Bouwbedrijf B.V.

🤝 “We thoroughly assess each potential supplier by visiting the supplier’s head offices and factories and meeting everyone involved in production.” – Ace & Tate, Barcelona, Spain At FRONT, we believe sustainable design goes hand in hand with accountability. That’s why we’re proud to work with partners like Ace & Tate, who don’t just talk about values—they show up to see them in action. Their visit to our production facility for a project using WasteBasedBricks shows the care and integrity they bring to every decision. We’re grateful to collaborate with changemakers who go beyond surface-level choices (literally) and care just as much about the ‘how’ and the ‘who’ as the look of the final product. Curious how FRONT materials can elevate your next project? Let’s talk. #SustainableDesign #CircularEconomy #RetailDesign #MaterialInnovation #WasteBasedBricks #MadeWithPurpose

🌽 From Corn Cob to Wall Panel: CornWall Featured in Dutch Magazine Bouwwereld! What if agricultural waste isn’t the end of a cycle, but the beginning of something valuable? At FRONT, we believe in materials with a story — and CornWall is a perfect example. 📰 In the latest issue of Bouwwereld, our co-founder Ward Massa shares the story behind CornWall: wall panels made from leftover corn cobs. A bio-based, aesthetic, and climate-positive alternative to conventional sheet materials like HPL. Through an innovative pressing process, we’ve created a lightweight, strong, and entirely fossil-free material — produced using solar energy and free from toxic substances. ✨ CornWall embodies what we stand for at FRONT: creating beautiful, circular materials that are accessible to architects, developers, and builders who want to build differently. We’re proud to see growing interest in CornWall across Europe and the US — and this is just the beginning.
