Great news!🥳Prof. Nathalie Katsonis will receive the Ammodo Science Award for fundamental research 2025 for her pioneering research on molecular systems👏 Inspired by biological systems, Katsonis develops materials that can bend, react and communicate with their environment. These materials can be used in soft robotics, drug delivery, or for smart coatings in green buildings. Katsonis will receive a cash prize of EUR 350,000. She can use that money in the coming years to explore new avenues in fundamental research. The award ceremony will take place on Wednesday May 7 at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙙𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙒𝙖𝙙𝙙𝙚𝙣 𝙎𝙚𝙖 𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙖? Yesterday the key results of the five-year projects 'Swimway Wadden Sea' and 'Wadden Mosaic' were presented. The groups of University of Groningen researchers Britas Klemens Eriksson and Laura Govers, Prof. Dr. were involved in these large collaborative projects with other knowledge institutions, nature managers and conservationists. Read the main conclusions in this article 👇 https://lnkd.in/eaX9zqsv ➡️ For Swimway Wadden Sea, the research group of Britas Klemens Eriksson delved into various living environments, how fish make use of them, and what we can do to make them more suitable. ➡️ For Wadden Mosaic, the research group of Laura Govers, Prof. Dr. focused specifically on the soil life in the Wadden Sea areas that are permanently underwater. 🤝The Wadden Mosaic project is a collaboration between Natuurmonumenten, University of Groningen (RUG) and NIOZ Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research. It is funded by the Waddenfonds, Rijkswaterstaat and the provinces of Groningen, Friesland and North Holland. 🤝The Swimway Wadden Sea project is a collaboration between NIOZ Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research, University of Groningen, Wageningen Marine Research, Waddenvereniging, Rijkswaterstaat and Sportvisserij Nederland. The project is funded by the Waddenfonds, the Ministry of LVVN, Rijkswaterstaat and the provinces of Groningen, Friesland and North Holland.
