Building a Future of Work for Africa’s Youth! The Mastercard Foundation, LEAP Africa, Jobberman, and leading employers came together at the Networking Event in Accra to foster meaningful conversations on youth employability and workforce readiness. With millions of young Africans entering the labor market annually, yet facing limited job opportunities, this collaboration is focused on equipping young professionals with the skills, resources, and hands-on experience they need to excel. The event provided a platform for Mastercard Foundation Associates, employers, and key stakeholders to review progress, discuss sustainability strategies, and explore innovative ways to create more employment opportunities across the continent. Through this program, over 1,200 young professionals across 15 African countries have been placed to gain real-world work experience, enhancing their employability and bridging the skills gap. Employers at the event shared how Associates have contributed significantly to their organizations, demonstrating adaptability, technical expertise, and strong work ethics. Associates also shared personal testimonials on how the program has transformed their career trajectories, offering mentorship, exposure, and industry connections that position them for long-term success. As this impactful initiative continues, the partnership remains committed to empowering Africa’s young workforce by fostering career-ready talent, strengthening employer engagement, and ensuring that young people have access to dignified and sustainable career pathways. #LEAPAfrica #MasterCardFoundationProgram #YouthEmployability#FutureOfWork #PartnershipForImpact #NetworkingForSuccess

We joined @preserveourroots at the G.R.E.E.N Sustainability Park Launch at Bethesda School, Ikota Lekki, an initiative led by Amara Nwuneli, Founder of Preserve Our Roots and a past YDoS project Lead. The event focused on inspiring young people to understand their role in protecting the environment and taking action for a sustainable future. Our Executive Director, Kehinde Ayeni, spoke passionately about sustainability, the urgency of climate action, and how young people can be changemakers. Using Amara as a case study, she showed them that age is no barrier to impact. The launch of the G.R.E.E.N Sustainability Park is more than just a green space; it has become an environment that will help young people connect with nature, understand climate issues, and take ownership of their role in creating change and protecting the planet. Through engaging discussions and real-life examples, the students of Bethesda School gained a deeper understanding of their role in protecting the planet and were inspired to take action. Amara started with a simple idea and a passion for change just like many young people across Africa who take action through the Youth Day of Service (YDoS). You too can lead an SDG action project, inspire change, and make a difference. Take the first step by learning how to get involved via www.youthdayofservice.org #Sustainability #YouthLeadership #SDGs #YDoS #LeapAfrica

Women and girls are at the heart of transformation, and at LEAP Africa, we are committed to creating pathways for their leadership, empowerment, and success. As we celebrate International Women’s Day 2025 with the theme “For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment,” we recognize that true progress comes when every woman, regardless of background, location, or status, has the opportunity to thrive just like their counterparts. From our Leadership Acceleration Programme to other capacity-building initiatives, we continue to equip young women with the tools to challenge inequalities, lead boldly, and create lasting impact in their communities. Today, we reaffirm our commitment to breaking systemic barriers and advocating for an inclusive world where gender equity is not just an ideal but a reality. Together, let’s champion a future where ALL women and girls have the rights, opportunities, and support they need to soar! Happy International Women’s Day from all of us at LEAP Africa. #IWD2025 #ForALLWomenAndGirls #LEAPAfrica #WomenLeadingChange

Rethinking the Approach: Empowering ALL Women and Girls 💜 This #InternationalWomensDay, we’re challenging norms and rethinking what true empowerment means for women. It’s not just about celebrating women’s achievements, it’s about deconstructing barriers, creating equitable systems, and ensuring that women and girls in our society are empowered and their rights not infringed. Beyond the conversations and buzz, accelerated policies, actions, and intentional allies are required to ensure that women can participate in leadership while fostering inclusive spaces for their opinions to be heard. At LEAP Africa, we are excited to celebrate women and girls across Africa who have made significant strides towards ensuring equality and inclusion across different sectors. Join us on our latest episode of #youthfulanduseful podcast, as Amabelle Nwakanma, Director of Programmes at LEAP Africa, discusses leadership, women rights and the power of collective action towards building an inclusive Africa.
