Auwal Adam sansan is a youth development advocate, HR consultant, and founder of Skill Axis Kano. With over five years of experience, he has led impactful projects in health, education, and community development. A YALI alumnus and award-winning leader, Auwal is passionate about mentorship and driving the SDGs.

Juliet Nwobodo is a communications professional passionate about women’s health, girls’ education, and climate justice. She serves as Communications Officer at Bridge Connect Africa Initiative and is a Pan African Youth Champion with the ONE Campaign. Juliet uses storytelling and strategic communication to drive policy advocacy and social impact.

Umar is a nuclear physicist in the “environmental body”’. His journey began with the founding of the Green Again Initiative (GAI) now WePlanet Nigeria. He has participated in the highest environment forums COP27, COP28 and COP29 with different organizations (Nuclear & Climate, AYGN and Net Zero Nuclear) and he currently works at CREST, BUK.

Yusuf Umar Usman is a climate change advocate and youth development champion dedicated to grassroots climate education, sustainable practices, and inclusive policy advocacy. He actively mentors young people and supports public health initiatives, particularly routine immunization and primary healthcare delivery in Katsina State.

Husna Baffa is a passionate African public health specialist dedicated to reshaping Africa’s narrative through civic advocacy and humanitarian work aligned with the AU Agenda 2063. She oversees TB and HIV programs in Kano State, providing technical expertise and strengthening health systems. A former member of UNICEF’s Young People Action Team (YPAT), she actively supports youth empowerment through training, workshops, and conferences.

Introducing our speaker Umar Saleh Anka. He is the Director of Climate Change at the Kano State Ministry of Environment and Climate Change. Currently pursuing a PhD in Natural Resource Management and Climate Change, his work focuses on the role of state and non-state actors in the Sudano-Sahelian region of Northeastern Nigeria. A specialist in climate change governance, he is a fellow of several professional bodies and brings extensive expertise in environmental policy and sustainability.

This week, we had the privilege of visiting the Honorable Commissioner of Health to share our ongoing efforts in driving innovation, impact, and sustainability in Kano State through the #ClimateLab. We also discussed our upcoming Bottle Toilet project, a collaboration with ICCDI and the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives.
