Congratulations to professors Wendy Queen and Samir Elhankari on the publication of their article! -french below- “Enhanced Photocatalytic CO2 Reduction to Methanol over Eco-Friendly CuCo-ZIF@g-C3N4 Synthesized from Recyclable Resources” As part of the #JuniorFacultyDevelopment program, their project focuses on the design and development of new MOFs (Metal-Organic Frameworks) and MOF composites for the implementation of a new technology for the catalytic conversion of carbon dioxide. In this study, they focused their research on the design of a sustainable photocatalyst capable of converting CO₂ into methanol under visible light. This work highlights the use of sustainable resources, including copper and cobalt extracted from mining waste, to design more environmentally friendly catalysts. This research illustrates the potential of MOF and semiconductor-based hybrid materials for CO₂ recovery. I am thrilled to share our last paper in ACS Applied Energy materials, intitled: "In Situ Synthesis of Phosphate-Based CelloMOF as a Promising Separator for Li-Ion Batteries", a collaborative effort between MSN Department and Chemical and Biochemical Sciences-UM6P, with the valuable contribution of Argonne National Laboratory (ANL). In this work, we developed a novel phosphate-based CelloMOF separator aimed at enhancing the performance and safety of lithium-ion batteries. By leveraging bio-based cellulose and MOF structures, we introduce a promising approach for next-generation battery materials with improved thermal stability, fire retardancy, and electrochemical cycling performance. From the 25th to the 28th of February, the CBS department, in collaboration with OMAC and the Chimistes Sans Frontières Association, organized a chemistry training program for primary and middle school teachers in Benguerir and the Rhamna region. Hosted in the CBS laboratories, the training introduced educators to key chemistry concepts using olive oil as a model, demonstrating techniques that rely only on conventional equipment and available resources. With a hands-on, learning-by-doing approach, the program encouraged active pedagogy, equipping teachers with innovative methods to foster scientific curiosity among students. Through this initiative, OMAC, CBS, and Chimistes Sans Frontières reinforced their commitment to making science education more interactive and accessible.

I’m thrilled to share that my article, "Enhanced Photocatalytic CO₂ Reduction to Methanol over Eco-Friendly CuCo-ZIF@g‑C₃N₄ Synthesized from Recyclable Resources", has just been published in ACS Inorganic Chemistry. Our findings highlight the synergistic effects between CuCo-ZIF and g-C₃N₄, leading to improved photocatalytic activity for methanol production. This research contributes to the development of green and efficient solutions for carbon capture and utilization, a crucial step toward a more sustainable future. I am deeply grateful to my supervisor Samir Elhankari for his continuous encouragement, mentorship and insightful guidance.
