On 21 February, project partners from Agenskalns Market and Baltic Studies Centre hosted an interactive discussion on "Market Culture and Cooperation in the Riga Region" in Sigulda. The event, organised as part of a series of replication activities, marks IN-HABIT’s entry into its final year and a shift towards consolidating all that has been learned and achieved since the project’s launch in 2020. The first pertains to the replication event: Rudolfs Cimdins, Head of Spatial Planning Unit at Riga Planning Region, shares his insights on marketplace culture in Latvia and the role of municipal support in sustaining initiatives. 🌿 POWERYOUTH Successfully Participates in the Eco-Schools Winter Forum 2025! ⚡ On February 22, as part of the Eco-Schools Winter Forum, the POWERYOUTH project hosted the session “Energy Communities for Youth”, led by Āris Ādlers, President of the NGO Alliance for Cross-Sectoral Sustainable Development. Participants explored how energy communities contribute to a sustainable future and how young people can actively engage in them! 💡 During the session, attendees actively participated in discussions on the role of energy communities and sustainable energy development. 📢 Stakeholder Group Meeting within the YESVolunteer Project On February 13th, the Latvian stakeholder group of the Interreg Europe #YESVolunteer project gathered at the Jūrmala Youth Initiative Center, bringing together youth affairs specialists from municipalities of the Riga Planning Region including Riga, Olaine, Jūrmala, Ķekava, Ādaži, Mārupe, and Sigulda, an expert from the Youth International Programs Agency, and representatives of the Riga Planning Region. 🙌 ✅ The YESVolunteer project aims to improve EU regional policies to foster youth civic engagement, participation, employment, and inclusion through experience exchange and best practice transfer. 🎥 Learn more about the project here: https://lnkd.in/dppAgvKD #YouthVolunteering #CivicEngagement #InterregEurope #YESVolunteer 

📍 PowerYouth Project Planning Meeting in Vienna – Connecting Youth in Energy Communities Across Europe! 🌍✨ From February 14th to 16th, PowerYouth project partners from Greece, Portugal, Austria, Poland, and Latvia gathered in Vienna to plan upcoming activities, foster cross-country collaboration, and outline initiatives for each of the five pilot countries, including Latvia. Our organization was represented by Maija and Liega. With each country facing unique challenges and approaches to youth engagement in energy communities, the diverse perspectives enriched the project and expanded the pool of best practices. Almost 20 buildings from Riga Planning region have been added to the ENERGATE Project platform 🏢💡 📊 Key Insights: ✔️ Buildings (schools, kindergartens, offices, sports complexes) analysed for energy performance. ✔️ Main finding: Nearly all buildings require building envelope insulation to reduce energy consumption and heating costs. ✔️ Why ENERGATE? The platform centralizes data, helps attract funding, and supports smart renovation planning for a more sustainable future. What is ENERGATE? It is a digital platform designed to support building owners in assessing energy performance, identifying efficiency measures, and connecting with investors. POWERYOUTH Project — Youth as the Future Shapers of Energy! 🌱🔋 On February 17th, as part of the POWERYOUTH Project, Ilze Dimdina, Energy Manager of Mārupe Municipality, delivered a lecture titled “Waste of Energy – How Not to Waste Energy” to the students of Jūrmala Pumpuri Secondary School. She highlighted the importance of using efficient ventilation systems that help retain heat and reduce energy consumption. Such an approach benefits both the environment and household budgets. 🌍💡 The project's goal is to inspire young people to engage in the energy sector and promote the transition to renewable resources.
