💼 Today, the Chairman of the Board of Eiropas Dzelzceļa līnijas I Rail Baltica Latvija, Eriks Dilevs, along with Peteris Celms, Head of Investment Development at RB Rail, and Guntis Aboltins-Abolins, Head of the construction company BERERIX, met with representatives of the Swiss company SSB Holdings Group to discuss public-private partnership (PPP) financing opportunities. SSB Holdings Group is an international investment partner with extensive experience in financing large-scale infrastructure and commercial projects worldwide. 🚆 #RailBaltica continues to actively develop a PPP financing model to attract additional funding and ease the financial burden on the budgets of the #Baltic states. Ongoing discussions with investors aim to identify which sections and assets of the Rail Baltica project are best suited for implementation through the PPP model. #CEFTransport #Infrastructure #Transportation #Cooperation

🚄 RB Rail AS has officially started a one-month negotiation phase with all tenderers that have been invited to submit initial bids in the Design and Build (D&B) tender for the Rail Baltica Control-Command and Signalling (CCS) subsystem. 💼 The purpose of these negotiations is to refine the technical and financial proposals to ensure the best possible solution that meets the project's requirements while staying within the budget. The following international candidates have successfully qualified and are now part of this important negotiation phase: 🔹 GTS Deutschland GmbH (Germany) Hitachi Rail STS S.P.A. (Italy) 🔹 A consortium of Indra Sistemas, S.A. and AŽD Praha S.R.O. (Spain and Czech Republic) 🔹 A consortium named “SKGN Baltics”, including Siemens Mobility OY Latvian Branch, Siemens Mobility GMBH, GRK Suomi OY, NRC Group Finland OY, and Kontron Transportation GMBH (Latvia, Germany, Finland, Austria) 🔹 A consortium named “ALSTOM – COBRA – FIMA”, made up of Alstom Transport SA, Alstom Baltics SIA, Cobra Instalaciones y Servicios S.A., and PS “Fima KZA Krakow” (France, Latvia, Spain) 📅 The contract with the selected supplier is expected to be signed by end of 2025. 💬 Aiga Benfelde, Acting Head of Procurement at RB Rail AS and Chairperson of the Procurement Commission highlighted: “Given the scale of this procurement, the commission has invested significant time to ensure that all requirements and criteria are clearly defined and well understood. 🚆 The #RailBaltica project is steadily moving forward. Yesterday, we brought together teams from across the initiative for our Super All Hands virtual event – held both on-site and online. It was a great chance for everyone to connect with project leads, share updates, and talk openly about current progress and challenges.   🔗 Rail Baltica is helping to close the gap between the Baltic states and the wider European railway system. It is not just about better connections – the project also supports regional development and strengthens military mobility. These topics, along with the latest construction news and priorities, were front and center during the event.   🤝 We were glad to be joined by colleagues from Rail Baltic Estonia, Rail Baltica Latvija, and Rail Baltica in Lithuania. It is clear that all teams are moving in the same direction and focused on the same goal: building something that will benefit the whole region.   🚀 Looking ahead, we are staying focused on teamwork across the Baltics and beyond and keeping the momentum going! #Teamwork #CEFTransport #Infrastructure #Transportation

✔️ The Minister of Economic Affairs and Industry, Erkki Keldo, has signed a decree confirming the route plan for #RailBaltica in Pärnumaa, #Estonia. This enables the start of railway construction on the Pärnumaa section, where a previous plan was partially annulled by the Supreme Court in 2020. 💬 Minister Keldo emphasized the strategic importance of the project, stating: “Rail Baltica is a strategically important infrastructure project for Estonia and the entire Baltic region. It will create a modern and environmentally friendly transport connection with the European railway network, reduce road traffic congestion, and foster economic development while also serving as a backbone for military mobility on NATO’s eastern flank.” 🌍 Environmental concerns have been a key focus throughout planning. Ecological bridges and protective zones will preserve habitat connectivity and wildlife movement, particularly in sensitive natural areas. Executives from Tyréns AB, one of Sweden’s largest design companies, and its Lithuanian branch recently visited #RailBaltica construction sites in #Lithuania. They met with LTG Infra, the company leading the project in Lithuania, to discuss ongoing and upcoming works. 💡 Vytis Zalimas, CEO of LTG Infra, emphasized that one of the biggest challenges for Rail Baltica is securing design resources for future high-speed railway sections. 💬 “Designing a high-speed railway in the Baltic region, which has no prior experience in the field, is a challenge. We are addressing it by partnering with international experts, strengthening in-house competencies within LTG Group, and proactively attracting specialists from around the world. This will allow us to develop the project faster and ensure its implementation,” said Žalimas. Tyrens Lietuva carries out the preparation and implementation work of projects on land acquisition for public needs in the Rail Baltica project sections at Kaunas and Panevėžys nodes. 🌿 RB Rail was honoured to take part in the #UICSustainabilityActionWeek held in Paris, an event that brought together sustainability professionals to discuss key sustainability topics, including sustainable solutions for a greener railway, noise reduction, climate change and adaptation, zero waste, and sustainability reporting. 🌱 We were particularly proud of our colleague Iveta Jēgere, who presented a session on mitigating impact on biodiversity and ensuring animal migration in the Rail Baltica railway project. 💬 Iveta emphasized the importance of staying up to date with the latest sustainability trends in the railway industry, noting: "It’s crucial to stay informed about evolving regulations, industry standards, and best practices from other projects when developing infrastructure like Rail Baltica. Sustainability Action Week provided a fantastic platform to engage with sustainability experts, exchange knowledge, and raise awareness about the Rail Baltica project.
