In Cyprus, Kefi Lab—developed within the Ideodromio programme with support from #ActionAidHellas—is more than just a food lab. It brings together students from special education units and mainstream classes to tackle food waste, foster entrepreneurship, and even support global humanitarian action. This initiative forms part of a broader project on financial education, funded over two years by the EIB Institute in collaboration with ActionAid Hellas and the Cyprus authorities. The EIB Institute is supporting communities affected by Cyclone Chido in Mayotte and the earthquake in Vanuatu which happened in December 2024 through a donation of EUR 175,000. In times of crisis, it is essential not only to provide immediate relief but also to support long-term rebuilding efforts that restore dignity and strengthen communities. By working with trusted partners on the ground, we ensure that aid reaches those who need it most, reinforcing our dedication to humanitarian action. The funds have been distributed among four trusted NGOs known for their expertise in humanitarian relief: Mayotte (Cyclone Chido Relief): 🔹 Fondation de France – EUR 50,000 for emergency aid, home rebuilding, clean water access, education support, and psychological care. 🔹 Croix-Rouge française – EUR 50,000 for immediate relief and long-term recovery. 🔹 Handicap International Luxembourg – EUR 50,000 for rehabilitation services and shelter for vulnerable individuals. Vanuatu (Earthquake Relief): 🔹UNICEF Luxembourg – EUR 25,000 for outpatient treatment centres, therapeutic foods, and nutritional education for children. Last week, VP Robert de Groot, Chantal Schrijver, Shiva Dustdar and Anna Canato, PhD of the EIB Institute visited Delft University of Technology, where they engaged in meaningful discussions with the university’s leadership: Rector Tim van der Hagen and members of the managerial team.
