Today, Sahil Khanna, Sun King's General Manager for Asia and Latin America, spoke at the South Asia Forum for Distributed Energy (#SouthAsiaDRE) on integrating renewables with the grid. As rooftop solar scales up, there is real potential for solar firms to support not just households but distribution companies, particularly at the last mile, where outages remain common. Smart net metering, falling solar costs, and enabling policy can help stabilise and green local grids. #DistributedEnergy #GridStability #NetMetering #EnergyAccess #SolarPower #PublicPrivatePartnership GOGLA IKEA Foundation Good Energies Foundation

Did you know that 1 in 5 Kenyans use a Sun King product? Our Pay-As-You-Go (PAYG) financing model makes solar affordable by breaking down the upfront cost of a solar system into small, manageable daily, weekly, or monthly payments. FMO - Dutch entrepreneurial development bank was one of the investors in Sun King’s multi-award-winning $130 million Kenyan securitisation - a financial vehicle that expands access to PAYG solar loans. This securitisation turns customers’ existing and future payments into an investable asset, funded by a mix of development finance and commercial lenders. Smart financing is empowering more households to adopt clean, green energy.

At Mwenge Dispensary in Dar es Salaam, #Tanzania 🇹🇿, expectant mothers once gave birth in the dark during frequent power outages, risking their lives and those of their newborns. On a recent field visit, we witnessed first-hand how the dispensary now has reliable, round-the-clock power thanks to Sun King’s PowerHub hybrid solar system. This means safer deliveries, fewer emergency referrals, and uninterrupted access to vaccines and medicine. We’re proud to see these and other stories featured in GOGLA's new report, Powering Climate Resilience: The Role of Off-Grid Solar, showcasing how off-grid solar strengthens healthcare and climate resilience across vulnerable communities. Solar power is an affordable, practical, and long-lasting energy solution, but those buying upfront must make a single payment equal to years of energy bills. Through our partnership with Ecobank Zambia, one of #Zambia’s pioneering digital banking companies, Ecobank Zambia is offering loans to their clients to invest in Sun King’s most powerful solar products - PowerHub and PowerPlay - at a discount. Complementing Sun King’s existing EasyBuy pay-as-you-go loans, this partnership provides a new financing pathway to help promote access to clean, reliable and affordable energy access nationwide. https://lnkd.in/dQm6Bc8M

At the Power Elec 2025 Conference in Nigeria, Sun King’s Ameh Bright Agbo spoke on how solar can empower rural communities. Participating in a distinguished panel, Agbo highlighted a solar subsidy initiative that reduced Nigerians' out-of-pocket costs by 40%, resulting in a fourfold increase in Sun King’s monthly installations. Panelists agreed that while the financial, technological, and business tools for expanding energy access exist, addressing affordability remains particularly key to overcoming barriers for rural populations.
